Steve Alaimo was born on December 6, 1939. A man of many talents, he began a singing career in Miami, Florida in the early 1960s while attending the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He formed the singing group The Red Coats and they had a minor success with the song, I Want You To Love Me. A charming, friendly, and talented person, Alaimo met and struck up a friendship with the legendary Dick Clark. Clark went on to produce the television show, Where The Action Is, for ABC, with Alaimo as the host. Steve continued to sing and in 1963 his song, Everyday I Have To Cry Some was number 46 on the charts. Alaimo's popularity was mixed over the next few years, but from 1961 to 1966 he released 7 albums. In the late 1960s, Alaimo stopped singing to open his own record company with partner Henry Stone. Later he opened Vision Records and propelled K.C. and the Sunshine Boys to super stardom. Alaimo also had the acting bug and appeared in a number of South Florida films with his friend former light-heavyweight boxing champion Willie Pastrano. Alaimo's most profitable film was the 1972 horror flick Stanley. In 1997 Alaimo released another of his albums entitled, Anthology. He still continues in the record business today.
