Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story

            Professional photographers Vinod Chopra (Naseeruddin Shah) and Sudhir Mishra (Ravi Baswani) open a photo studio in the prestigious Haji Ali area in Mumbai, and hope to make enough money to keep it running. After a disastrous start, they are given some work by the editor of "Khabardar", a publication that exposes the scandalous lives of the rich and the famous. They accept it and start working with the editor, Shobha Sen (Bhakti Barve), on a story exposing the dealings between an unscrupulous builder, Tarneja (Pankaj Kapoor), and corrupt Municipal Commissioner D'Mello (Satish Shah). During their investigation, they find out that another builder Ahuja (Om Puri) too is involved in this dealing.While working on their story, Sudhir and Vinod decide to enter a photography contest that carries a prize money of Rs. 5000/-, and take a number of photographs all over the city. On developing their pictures, in one of the photographs they see a man shooting someone. Upon enlarging it, they realize that the killer is none other than Tarneja. They immediately return to the park where they had shot that picture and realize that the body is lying behind the bushes. Before the duo get to the body, it disappears, but they manage to retrieve one of a pair of gold cuff links. Sometime later, they attend the inauguration of a bridge dedicated to the memory of late Municipal Commissioner D'Mello who is supposed to have died of a terminal disease. It is there that they discover the other cuff link. They return at night and dig up that area and unearth a coffin containing the dead body of D'Mello.The duo take a number of photographs of the corpse, and wheel it with them with the hopes of exposing Tarneja. Suddenly the body disappears. Later they find out that the body is with Tarneja's rival, Ahuja who had, in an inebriated condition, carried the coffin tied to his car to his farm house. They provide this information to Shobha, who in turn starts blackmailing Tarneja. He invites her and her associates to crack a deal, and plants a bomb to kill them. Unfortunately, the bomb explodes right in the face of Tarneja and his henchmen, and the trio escape from the scene. Later, the duo realize that Shobha and Ahuja are up to no good, and so they take the corpse, and wheel it with them, but not before Tarneja, Ahuja, the new Municipal Commissioner Srivastav (Deepak Qazir), Shobha and others also get involved, resulting in a series of comic mix-ups including one with some burkha-clad women.The climax is set upon a stage dramatization of the Mahabharata, particularly the enactment of the Draupadi Cheer-Haran episode, which is turned on its head with the duo and the group following them inserting themselves into the scene. The corpse plays Draupadi and the vile Duryodhana, who orders the disrobing in the original version, ends up pledging to save Draupadi's honor at any cost. To make things even more hilarious, a new act - that of the ill-fated romance of Salim and Anarkali - is introduced, with the corpse playing Anarkali.In the end, the police arrives and Vinod and Sudhir present their evidence to the police officer, and it seems as though Tarneja will be arrested. Srivastava, being the Assistant Municipal Commissioner tells the officer to wait a few minutes before arresting Tarneja. Tarneja tells Ahuja and Shobha that if he goes to jail, he would make sure that their malpractices are also exposed. In a twist ending, they all come to an agreement and Srivastava manages to pin the murder of Commissioner D'Mello and the collapse of the bridge on Vinod and Sudhir. In the final scene, Vinod and Sudhir are shown several months/years later released from prison, still in their prison clothes. They turn to the camera and make a cut-throat gesture, signifying the death of justice and truth in an age of corruption.

            Mogambo (Amrish Puri) is a brilliant yet insane retired Army General whose goal is to conquer India. From his remote hidden island, he monitors all the evil-doings perpetrated by his henchmen. All of his subordinates know the formal salute "Hail Mogambo!", emphasizing his complete authority over his minions. Arun Verma (Anil Kapoor) is an orphan, a street violinist and philanthropist who rents a large, old house in which he houses a dozen or so orphaned children and takes care of them with the help of his cook/ caretaker Calendar (Satish Kaushik). Arun is seldom able to make his ends meet, and owes many debts to the local food merchant Roopchand (Harish Patel), and also he has to pay the landlord Maniklal (Yunus Parvez), much overdue.In spite of these problems, Arun tries to look on the bright side of every situation. As time goes by, Calendar reminds Arun that the cost of running the home continues to rise. Arun decides to rent out the room on the first floor by placing an advert in a local newspaper, whereby a young petite girl, Seema Soni (Sridevi) becomes his first tenant. Seema is a journalist by profession and prefers the solitude and quiet location. However, when she sees that orphaned children are housed in the same location, she confronts Arun for an explanation. Hence, they get off to a rocky start, but Seema eventually becomes friends with everyone and is very kind and compassionate person. Arun falls in love with her.One day, Arun receives a mysterious letter from a family friend, Dr. Sinha (Ashok Kumar), which reveals that Arun's late father - who was a renowned scientist - had created a device that would make its user invisible. It still needs to be patented and because Arun was the one and only son, it was his responsibility to complete the protocols and sign the paperwork for it. Arun saw this as an opportunity to and immediately hatches an action plan to get the device. With the directions in the letter, and accompanied by his ward Jugal, enters his late father's old laboratory and finds the wonderful and unique device. The device is in the shape of a gold watch worn on the wrist. When it is activated, it makes the wearer invisible to the naked eye. This invisibility is pervasive except for one flaw: when red light is focused on the wearer, he becomes visible. Arun and Jugal decide to keep this device a secret between them.After a few months as a tenant, Seema and Arun are invited to a lavish party hosted by an acquaintance - Daaga (Sharat Saxena) and Teja (Ajit Vachani), whereby she performs a song under the guise of a famous Hawaiian dancer, who is unable to make it to the party. After the performance, she is chased by criminals who think she is a rich woman and she is nearly killed, but Arun comes to her rescue her, styling himself as an invisible person introducing himself to her as "Mr. India". Thereafter, Seema falls in love with her rescuer, though not attracted to his civilian alter ego. Arun keeps his identity as Mr. India secret a few more months from everyone, including Seema. He enjoys himself in trying to use the device in many occasions such as the police station, to entertain the orphans, to attract Seema and to enjoy himself or pick pocket etc. Unfortunately, one day Arun uses the device to trick one of Mogambo's henchmen, who report the incident to their leader, foiling his criminal plans. Later on, after much research and effort, Mogambo's computer-aided intelligence teams reveal that Mr. India's specific actions against the gambling den bring benefit to Arun Verma.Therefore, Mogambo has bombs disguised as toys, planted in places where children can find them. As a revenge and to deter Arun from destroying his plans, Mogambo plants one such bomb to kill Arun's youngest and dearest charge, Tina. After this sad event, Arun, Seema, Calendar, and the surviving children are all captured by the henchmen as prime suspects and brought for interrogation before Mogambo. Mogambo tortures them so that they reveal Mr. India's true identity and the location of the invisibility device. Arun eventually admits to this when Mogambo threatens to drop two children into a pit of acid; but because Arun has lost the device by dropping it accidentally somewhere during the capture, he cannot become invisible to prove himself. Frustrated, Mogambo temporarily sends them into the dungeons.However, they are all able to escape miraculously. While in the outside world, Mogambo activates four ICBMs, which are poised to destroy all of India. When Arun finds out about this, he confronts him, and the two fight. When Arun has overcome Mogambo, he deactivates the launch which culminates in the missiles detonating on the launch-pad. Arun, Seema, Calendar, and the children escape, while Mogambo's fortress is destroyed. Mogambo dies inside the big fireball caused by the explosion of the missiles on the launch pad. Having lost the device, Arun's dual identity remains a secret to most people, while he returns to his former life as a pauper.

            Radhe Mohan, a guy who although has passed his college way back, yet likes to spend his time hanging out with his college friends. Radhe being a bad boy stud, often takes outrageous stands in what he feels is right, without caring much about peoples' perception and eventual consequences, if any. His elder brother often tries to make him a nicer man, but Radhe being ignorant doesn't listen. As the story unfolds, Radhe comes across a college fresher Nirjhara, who is the daughter of a local priest. The more they meet up, the more intrigued Radhe becomes about Nirjhara, while Nirjhara on the other hand becomes appalled by Radhe's perplexed and stubborn persona. While Radhe is failing to prove to Nirjhara he'll be a better man, he unknowingly helps Nirjhara's elder sister by saving her marriage which is under a turmoil. Radhe after failing to convey his emotions maturely goes berserk by kidnapping Nirjhara, but being a good guy from within, he rectifies his mistakes and tells her that he loves her, and he can't live without her. Nirjhara after sensing integrity in his words accepts him as her lover. Their happiness does not last very long as something terrifying happens to Radhe. Some local goons hit him brutally, because earlier in the story Radhe with the aid of police, would close the brothels which existed in the main city area. Wounds in Radhe's head make him lose all his memories. His brother convinces Nirjhara to move on, to which her family complies without acknowledging her consent. Radhe comes back to his senses by Nirjhara's prayers but its too late for him as she passes away missing Radhe thinking he might never come back. When Radhe escapes from asylum, he rushes to her home but finds out she's no more. Emotionally disturbed Radhe loses his senses yet again, with his love being unrequited.

Lucknow and start the investigation and when the investigation is at it's peak, the
name of one the most powerful political figures of the country, Ranveer Pratap
Singh, emerges as the prime suspect. Media , people and politics gets into a war of
opinions. The biggest legal luminaries Laxman Chotrani and Abha Abhyankar fight
the legal battle . A sordid tale of an extra-marital affair opens up in the court, filled
with lust, love and deceit. The case has new layers unfolding , unravelling the
darkest secrets of the sus-pects . Every new evidence opens up a new angle to the
story that nobody could have imagined , with every clue pointing in the same
direction . CBI and Aabha are hopeful that Shiraz will get justice but what was
supposed to be an open and shut case slowly starts losing grip, where the
witnesses turn hos-tile, the evidences lose sense. . Slowly and steadily, the CBI's
case starts falling apart and making the CBI officer a national villain, a pawn in the
hands of the powers to be. Every accused except the smallest pawn in the crime
are aquitted and the case re-mains a mystery.... Who Killed Shiraz Malik?

            After her mothers suicide, Nazneen (Tannishta Chatterjee) is given by her father in an arranged marriage to a man she has never met. Barely seventeen, the beautiful girl is ripped away from her beloved sister and their rural home in Bangladesh and sent to live with her fat, much older husband in Londons "Brick Lane."Although her new husband Chanu (Satish Kaushik) is not a monster, he lacks any insight into, or interest in, his young wifes feelings. He is completely oblivious to the fact that his wife daydreams of her home and sister during sex, and believes that knowing about Hume and Thackeray are the signs of education which will impress his employer and coworkers. Sadly, he is mistaken.
After losing his job and falling victim to a loan shark, Chanu begins working as a minicab driver. Nazneem tries to make ends meet by doing what the other women in the council houses do: she she buys a sewing machine and takes in piecework, finishing blue jeans.Enter Karim (Christopher Simpson), the young, handsome, delivery man for the unfinished jeans. The two fall in love, have sex, talk of Nazneems divorce and their marriage. The oblivious Chanu either does not see what is happening before his eyes, or simply chooses not to say anything.During the film, the attacks of 9/11 take place. As anti-Muslim sentiment increases in London, community meetings are held. As Karim starts growing a beard and becomes increasingly militant, Chanu becomes a spokeswoman in favor of moderation and against extremism. She advocates a Moslem faith based not on politics but on compassion.When it was announced that Monica Alis book's would be made into a film, Muslims in London were so outraged that the novel could not be filmed on the real Brick Lane (the center of London's Bangladeshi population). As a Westerner, I find it difficult to understand how the sentiments expressed by Nazneema could provoke such anger. Brick Lane is a kind, compassionate study of human emotion; not a belligerent polemic.

            Karzzzz is an upcoming 2008 Bollywood film, directed by Satish Kaushik. The film stars Himesh Reshammiya and Urmila Matondkar. The film is a remake of "Karz" which starred: Rishi Kapoor, Simi Garewal and Tina Munim. This film might be different than the old one. The film is planned to be released in October 2008. The plot could possibly be quite similar to Farah Khan's "Om Shanti Om", which was also based on Karz.
Urmila Matondkar is all set to reprise the role of Kamini played by Simi Garewal in the original Karz. It is learnt that Urmilas Kamini will be more glamourous than the one we saw in the original. Urmila is all set to do a special dance number in the film called Tandoori Nights. Its not an item song but something more spectacular than that.
