Michael remembers impressing his grammar school teachers with his uncanny ability to create a wide variety of characters in the school plays, sometimes even using authentic accents! By high school, he was more into playing football and bass guitar in his rock band than in acting. But when a friend convinced him to try out for the high school musical and he got in, he was hooked all over again. Michael was awarded a full tuition acting scholarship to Hofstra University, where he was introduced to a playwright by the name of William Shakespeare. He appeared in 3 of the school's highly acclaimed Globe Shakespeare Festivals, playing Dogberry in "Much Ado About Nothing", Valentine in "Two Gentlemen of Verona", and Romeo in "Romeo and Juliet". It was at this time that he was also cast as Homer in the animated anime classic, "Star Blazers". After graduating with honors, he put his BFA degree to work by appearing as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and Cheerful Earful, a talking Christmas tree! But he soon left the Long Island mall circuit and headed into Manhattan, displaying his versatility by playing everything from a right-wing preacher to a singing and dancing Pirate King! He has performed at City Center, Town Hall, La MaMa, etc. and in many regional theaters including the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
