            Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) awakens from a nightmare in which he relived his assimilation by the Borg (cybernetic lifeforms) six years earlier. He is contacted by Admiral Hayes, who informs him of an imminent Borg invasion against Earth. Picard's orders are for his ship, the USS Enterprise-E, to patrol the Neutral Zone in case of Romulan aggression, as Starfleet is worried that Picard is too emotionally involved with the Borg to join the fight. Learning the fleet is losing the battle, the Enterprise crew disobeys orders and heads for Earth, where a single Borg Cube holds its own against a group of Starfleet vessels. The Enterprise arrives in time to save the crew of the USS Defiant and its captain, the Klingon Worf (Michael Dorn). Picard takes command of the fleet and orders the surviving ships to concentrate their firepower on a seemingly unimportant point on the Cube. The Cube is destroyed after launching a small sphere towards the planet. The Enterprise pursues the sphere into a temporal vortex. As the sphere disappears, the Enterprise discovers Earth has been altered; it is now populated entirely by Borg. Realizing the Borg have used time travel to change the past, the Enterprise follows the sphere through the vortex.The Enterprise arrives in the past on April 4, 2063, the day before humanity's first encounter with an alien species after Zefram Cochrane's (James Cromwell) historic warp flight; the crew realizes the Borg are trying to prevent "first contact." The sphere opens fire on Cochrane's site in Bozeman, Montana, where he's building his warp drive craft from an abandoned nuclear missile. After destroying the Borg sphere, the away team is met with hostile resistance by Cochrane and his assistant, Lily Sloane (Alfre Woodard), who suffers radiation poisoning from a leaking container damaged in the attack.Picard has Sloane sent back to the Enterprise for medical attention. The Captain returns to the ship and leaves Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) on Earth to make sure the Phoenix's flight proceeds as planned. While in the future Cochrane is seen as a hero, the real man, a burnout from the wars that devastated Earth and a mild alcoholic, is reluctant to assume the role the Enterprise crew describe. He initially disbelieves their story but is swayed when they're able to prove the Enterprise-E exists and is in orbit above them.A group of Borg invade the Enterprise's lower decks and begin to assimilate her crew and modify the ship. Picard and a team attempt to reach engineering to disable the Borg with a corrosive gas, but are forced back; the android Data (Brent Spiner) is captured in the melee. Frightened, Sloane corners Picard with a phaser, but he gains her trust, showing her that she's on a spacecraft orbiting Earth. The two escape the Borg-infested area of the ship by creating a diversion in the holodeck. Picard, Worf, and the ship's navigator, Lt. Sean Hawk (Neal McDonough), travel outside the ship in space suits to stop the Borg from calling reinforcements by using the deflector dish. As the Borg continue to assimilate more decks, Worf suggests destroying the ship, but Picard angrily calls him a coward and vows to continue the fight. Sloane confronts the captain and makes him realize he is behaving irrationally on account of his desire for revenge. Chastened, Picard relents, apologizes to Worf, and orders the activation of the ship's self-destruct sequence. While the crew head for escape pods, the Captain decides to stay behind and rescue his friend Data.As Cochrane, Riker, and Chief Engineer Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) prepare to activate the warp drive on the Phoenix, Picard discovers that the Borg Queen (Alice Krige) has grafted human skin onto Data. She presented this modification with the sensations he has long desired, hoping to obtain the android's encryption codes for the Enterprise computer. Although Picard offers himself to the Borg in exchange for Data's freedom, Data refuses to leave. He deactivates the self-destruct mechanism and fires torpedoes at the Phoenix. At the last moment, the torpedoes miss the Phoenix, and the Borg Queen realizes Data has betrayed her. The android ruptures a coolant tank, and the corrosive vapor eats away the biological components of the Borg. With the Borg invasion neutralized, Cochrane completes his warp flight. After Picard finishes off the Queen's twitching remains, Data confesses that he was tempted by her offer, for 0.68 seconds, but after that eternity by his perception, he rejected it and strung her along to enable her defeat.The next day at the missile complex, the crew watches from a distance as a Vulcan survey ship, attracted by the Phoenix's warp flight, lands on Earth. While Cochrane goes to greet the aliens, Sloane notices the Enterprise crew slipping away. She bids Picard farewell, envious of the happy future he is returning to. Picard reminds her that it is a future that she and her friends are going to make possible. Having ensured the correction of the timeline, the Enterprise crew return to the 24th century.

            On Romulus, members of the Romulan Imperial Senate debate whether to accept the terms of peace and alliance with the Reman rebel leader Shinzon (Tom Hardy). The Remans are a slave race of the Romulan Empire, used as miners and as cannon fodder in the Dominion War. A faction of the military is in support of Shinzon, but the Praetor and Senate are opposed to the alliance. After rejecting the motion, the Praetor and remaining senators are disintegrated by a device left in the room by a military-aligned senator.Meanwhile, back on Earth, Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) speaks about how a starship captain's life is filled with solemn duty. He remembers commanding men in battle, negotiating peace treaties and leading first contact missions, but none of them compares with his solemn duty this time - as best man. The crew of the USS Enterprise prepare to bid farewell to Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), who are being married on Betazed. Picard proposes a toast, and expresses his sincere thanks to Riker and Troi as his guides and advisors, and wishes them both the greatest happiness in their current lives together.En route to Betazed, the Enterprise crew discover a positronic signature on an uncharted planet in the Kolaran system in the Romulan Neutral Zone. Captain Picard, Lieutenant Commander Data (Brent Spiner), and Lieutenant Commander Worf (Michael Dorn) land on Koloran III upon a larger shuttle with an advanced buggy. In the course of scouring the planet's surface, they discover pieces of an android resembling Data scattered across a great distance. After finding the final piece (the head), the away team are attacked by the native species in several vehicles with machine guns. The away team flee back to the shuttle on the buggy while firing at the aliens with a powerful phaser cannon, only to find it surrounded. Using a remote control, Data pilots the shuttle away from the aliens, much to their surprise, and behind a cliff where Picard daringly pilots the vehicle into the open back of the shuttle. Back on the Enterprise, the crew deduce the android as a less-advanced, prototype version of Data. When the android is reassembled, he introduces himself as B-4 (also Brent Spiner), and Data informs him they are brothers.Admiral Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) (who has recently returned from the Delta Quadrant) contacts Picard and orders the Enterprise on a diplomatic mission to Romulus. Janeway explains that the Romulan Empire has been taken over in a military coup by Shinzon, who says he wants peace with the Federation and bring freedom to Remus. On arrival, they learn that Shinzon is a clone of Picard, secretly created by the Romulans to plant a high-ranking agent into the Federation. The project was abandoned when Shinzon was a child and he was left for dead as a mining slave on Remus. After many years, Shinzon became the leader of the Remans, and constructed his heavily armed flagship, the Scimitar. Initially, diplomatic attempts go well, but the Enterprise crew discover that the Scimitar is producing low levels of thalaron radiation, which is what has been used to kill the Imperial Senate and is deadly to nearly all lifeforms. There are also unexpected attempts to communicate the Enterprise computers, and Shinzon himself violates Troi's mind through the telepathy of his Reman viceroy (Ron Perlman).Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) discovers that Shinzon is aging rapidly on account of the process to clone him, and the only possible means to prevent the aging is the transfusion of Picard's own blood. Shinzon kidnaps Picard from the Enterprise, as well as B-4, having planted the android on the nearby planet to lure Picard closer to the Neutral Zone. However, Data reveals that he has swapped places with B-4, rescues Picard, and returns with Picard to the Enterprise. They have now seen enough of the Scimitar to know that Shinzon plans to use the warship to invade the Federation using its thalaron-radiation generator as a weapon, with the eradication of all lifeforms on Earth being his first priority.The Enterprise races back to Federation space and is ambushed by the Scimitar in the Bassen Rift, a region that prevents any subspace communications. Two Romulan Warbirds come to assist the Enterprise, as they do not want to be involved in Shinzon's genocidal plans, but Shinzon destroys one and disables the other. Recognizing the need to stop the Scimitar at all costs, Picard orders the Enterprise on a collision course with the other ship. The collision leaves both ships heavily damaged and destroys most of the Scimitar's primary weapons. To assure their mutual destruction, Shinzon orders the Scimitar to back away, then activates the thalaron weapon. Picard boards the Scimitar to face Shinzon alone, and eventually kills him by impaling him on a metal strut. Data jumps the distance between the two ships with a personal transporter to beam Picard back to the Enterprise and then sacrifices himself when he fires his phaser on the thalaron generator, destroying the Scimitar, while saving the Enterprise. The crew mourn Data, and the Romulan commander Donatra (Dina Meyer) offers them her gratitude for saving the Empire.On the Enterprise, now back at Earth drydock for extensive repairs, Picard bids farewell to the newly promoted Captain Riker, who is leaving to command the USS Titan and begin a possible peace negotiation mission with the Romulans. Picard meets with B-4, and informs him about Data's goal to become more human and Data's wonder about human nature, before Worf calls and informs Picard that the crew are ready to bring the warp engines online. Picard discovers that Data had downloaded the engrams of his neural net into B-4's positronic matrix before he boarded the Scimitar. Picard leaves B-4's quarters walking down a corridor smiling, knowing that Data will return someday.
    

Star Trek: Nemesis


            Lieutenant Commander Data (Brent Spiner) is temporarily transferred to an undercover mission observing the peaceful Ba'ku people. While on their planet, he malfunctions and reveals the presence of the joint Federation-Son'a task force observing the Ba'ku. Admiral Matthew Dougherty (Anthony Zerbe) contacts the USS Enterprise-E to obtain Data's schematics but adamantly states that the Enterprise is not needed. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) decides to ignore those orders and takes the Enterprise to capture Data. After stopping Data, Picard becomes suspicious of Dougherty's orders that the Enterprise is not needed. His crew investigates the cause of Data's malfunction. They discover that the Ba'ku have advanced technology, but have rejected its use to live simpler lives. On account of a unique metaphasic radiation emanating from their planet's rings, they are effectively immortal. Dougherty's allies, the Son'a, are a decrepit race who use medical techniques to prevent death; their excessive use of cosmetic surgery gives them a mummified appearance. The Enterprise crew also begin to experience the rejuvenating effect of the planet; Lieutenant Commander Geordi LaForge (LeVar Burton) finds his eyes have regenerated and he no longer needs ocular implants; Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) rekindle their long-abandoned relationship; and Picard develops a relationship with the Ba'ku woman Anij (Donna Murphy).Picard and Data discover a submerged and cloaked Federation spacecraft containing a gigantic holodeck recreation of the Ba'ku village. Data's malfunction stems from a Son'a attack, received when he discovered the vessel. Picard confronts Dougherty and learns that high-ranking Federation officers and the Son'a secretly planned to deceptively move the Ba'ku to the spacecraft and forcibly relocate them to another planet, allowing the Son'a to collect the rejuvenating radiation (but poisoning the planet in the process). Dougherty orders the Enterprise to leave. Picard states the rejuvenating benefits of the radiation does not justify Dougherty's plans for the Ba'ku and violates the Prime Directive. He plans to alert the Federation of the forced relocation.Picard is joined by some of the crew to help the Ba'ku escape from being abducted while Riker takes the Enterprise far enough from the Briar Patch to communicate the violation to Starfleet. The Son'a send robotic probes to locate and capture the fleeing Ba'ku. The Son'a leader, Ahdar Ru'afo (F. Murray Abraham), convinces Dougherty to allow two Son'a ships to attack the Enterprise. Riker defeats the attacking ships and the Enterprise escapes. Their plan exposed, Ru'afo insists upon harvesting the radiation source immediately. Picard, Anij, and several Ba'ku inhabitants are transported onto the Son'a flagship. Picard reveals to Dougherty that the Son'a and the Ba'ku are the same race and involving the Federation in a blood feud. The Son'a are a splinter faction of the Ba'ku who gave up their bucolic existence a century earlier to embrace the use of technology. They attempt to seize power but failed, and the Ba'ku elders exiled them from the planet, denying them the rejuvenating effects of the rings. The Son'a develop an artificial and imperfect means to extend their lives at the cost of disfigurement. Ru'afo kills Admiral Dougherty when he backs out of the plan and Ru'afo proceeds with his plan.While Picard is escorted to be executed, he convinces the Son'a officer Gallatin to help him stop Ru'afo. Picard masterminds a ruse to transport Ru'afo and his bridge crew to the holoship and shut down the radiation harvester. Ru'afo discovers the deception and transports himself to the harvester spacecraft to manually restart the process. Picard follows and sets the harvester to self-destruct, which kills Ru'afo while Picard is rescued by the Enterprise. The remaining Son'a are forgiven and welcomed back by the Ba'ku. Picard arranges a meeting between Gallatin and his Ba'ku mother. The Enterprise crew take a moment to enjoy their rejuvenated selves before returning to their previous mission.

            Ralph "Papa" Thorson (Steve McQueen) is a modern day bounty hunter who hunts down and captures criminals who have skipped on their bail to bring them back for a 20% of the reward to his bailbondsman employer. It is revealed in the opening text that Thorson has has apprehended more than 5,000 criminals and bail jumpers and life is just getting complicated for him.In the opening scene, Thorson arrives in a small, African American town in Texas where despite being a terrible driver of cars (a running joke used throughout the film), he captures fugitive Tommy Price (LaVar Burton) for fleeing on his bail. Next, Thorson drives to another small Texas town where he is to bring in a dangerous punk, named Billie Joe, whose kinfolk include Sheriff Strong, a redneck lawman who warns Thorson not to get involved. Papa ignores him and ends up in a violent fight with the fugitive, who is so huge, even a Taser barely stops him.Thorson drives both Tommy Price and Billie Joe back to Los Angeles where he collect his $1,800 reward for bringing them back. However, Thorson vouches for Price, and thus soon after becomes one of his many acquaintances who hang out at Thorson's house.At home, Thorson is revealed to be an old-fashioned guy who has a love of antiques and classical music, drives a 1950s convertible and keeps an antique gasoline pump in his house. His schoolteacher girlfriend Dotty (Kathryn Harrold) is pregnant and would like "Papa" to be there for her when the baby is born, but his work continually keeps him on the road.Thorson works for elderly and veteran bailbondsman Ritchie Blumenthal (Eli Wallace) who sends him out on dangerous assignments to chase down fugitives in all parts of the USA. However, Throson himself is pursued by a psychotic killer who was one of Thorson's former convicts, Rocco Mason (Tracey Walter) who begins stalking Thorson at his home and begins following Dotty around as well.Thorson's adventures continue when he is sent to rural Nebraska to bring back two fugitives, called the Branch Brothers. He flies out to Nebraska, rents a fancy 1979 Pontiac Trans Am car and drives to the Branch farmhouse where the two psycho brothers steal his car and try to kill him with dynamite. Thorson commandeers a crop cutter machine and chases after the two Branch Brothers through a cornfield which ends when a stick of dynamite dropped by them blows up their car, but they both survives. Thorson arrives back at the local airport to deliver back the destroyed Trans Am and bring the Branch Brothers on the plane back to L.A.Meanwhile, Rocco Mason begins terrorizing Dotty at her workplace which leads Thorson to try to protect her, but she instead tries to make him give up his bounty hunter way of life and to take her to a Lamaze class. Thorson grows tired of it and Dotty threatens to leave him due to his uncertain feelings towards being there for her.When Thorson's police friend Captain Spota (Richard Venture) commits suicide after he is investigated for illegal use of police funds and embezzlement, Thorson goes into a further decline.Blumenthal next sends Thorson to Chicago to pick up fugitive Bernardo (Tom Rosales) a dangerous ex-con which leads to a long chase sequence as Thorson and Bernardo exchange gunfire with each other at an apartment building. Thorson chases Bernardo on foot through the streets and to an elevated train where Thorson is forced to climb on the roof of the train to avoid getting shot at. The chase leads to a high-rise tower where the both steal cars and chase each other to the top level the parking garage, where the psychotic fugitive drives off the edge and plunges several stories into a river to his apparent doom.After returning to Los Angeles that evening, Thorson learns from Price that Dotty has been kidnapped by Rocco Mason and is holding her at the high school where she teaches. Thorson arrives when Mason attempts to kill him with an M-16 assault rifle. Unarmed after being deprived of his weapon, Thorson lures Mason into one classroom where he floods the room with flammable gas where once Mason opens fire, the sparks ignites the gas and blows up the room with Mason in it.Having delt with Mason, Thorson immediately needs to rush Dotty to the hospital when she begins to go into labor. Despite being a terrible driver, he manages to get to the hospital where he collapses exhausted in the lobby area. He comes to in the final scene to walk back outside where Dotty has given birth and he holds his new baby.

            The wonderfully irascible Alvin, unfogettably portrayed by the great Oscar Nominee Seymour Cassel, correspondingly makes life hell for everyone else around him as a terminally ill widower confined to his hospice bed. Reach for Me explores the age-old quandary of how we greet our final days-- and who will be there with us at the end. This is a stirring, life-affirming drama, with lots of comic relief an an excellent ensemble cast including Oscar Nominee Alfre Woodard and Golden Globe Nominee Adrienne Barbeau. The bright-shining love affair between Alvin's young roomie Kevin and his girlfriend Sarah (played by Johnny Whitworth and Lacey Chabert in beautifully crafted performances refreshingly free of false sentimentality) helps Alvin forgive himself and finally discover love that he never knew was so close at hand.The Story
Elderly Alvin is rather content with his new living arrangements, despite the fact that they are a hospice facility. He enjoys agitating his nurse Evelyn, and jokes with his roommate Elliot.One night, after exaggerating the sex they once knew in their younger days, Elliot dies while Alvin helplessly watches.Alvin is assigned a new roommate, Kevin, a young man with terminal cancer. Alvin quickly grows jealous of the attention Evelyn gives to Kevin, and rather harshly rebuffs his attempts to be friendly.Alvin then becomes suspicious when a young woman visits Kevin at night, appearing to perform sexual favors. Alvin later discovers that the young woman is Kevins wife Sarah, and not a prostitute as he had assumed. Through dreams, Alvin imagines the frustration his wife had with him.Even though Kevin cant eat (he has a feeding tube), Sarah brings him a nice Italian meal and describes it to him while Alvin listens. Alvin momentarily envisions himself having the dinner with his wife, then snaps out of the vision and swears at Evelyn, who becomes furious at him.That night, with Sarah by his side, Kevin cries about his condition.Sarah shows slides to Kevin and Alvin featuring her travels in Italy. Alvin warms up.Sarah brings in a sheet for Kevin and Alvin to shoot paint on, and after some enjoyment, Alvin is stricken with pain.Alvin has a vision of his wife, telling him to prepare for death by creating some good memories.Alvin wanders off to visit another terminal patient, an attractive older woman named Valerie. They chat and flirt a little.Sarah cries while praying over Kevin.Alvin opens the door for Valerie to enter a tub room. He spies on her, and when she turns around topless, he sees that she is missing a breast.Alvin begins talking to Valerie outside, and she suddenly leans in to kiss him.Sarah plays a guitar and sings for Kevin a song called Tomorrow. He has memories of their happier times together. Alvin listens from his bed and remembers his wife, who scolds him again for not having faith.Alvin sits down to watch some of A Farewell to Arms with Kevin, who asks him what they would do in a war with little time left. Alvin turns off the movie, saying he knows what happens.Kevin desperately asks Alvin to manipulate his colostomy tube to clear his waste, and even though Alvin complains, they laugh about it.Kevin tells Sarah that he envisions her life with someone new. She cries, and he tries to reassure her.Alvin envisions telling his wife he never knew her, and asks why she left him.Alvin goes to visit Valerie while she is sleeping, and quietly wakes her up. He reveals that he watched his wife shoot herself in the head on their 12th anniversary. Valerie invites him to lie down next to her, and she tries to reassure him.Alvin and Valerie walk outside and talk. When they come back to his room, Alvin sees that Kevin is gone and becomes very upset.Alvin and Valerie lie in bed together and chat with Evelyn.Sarah speaks at Kevins funeral, and gives a card to Alvin from Kevin, which is for him to fill out when he gets there.Alvin and Valerie set up a double bed in his room. They have given up their Do Not Resuscitate orders. They lie down together to watch some television, and canoodle.
