All the Streets Are Silent: The Convergence of Hip Hop and Skateboarding (1987-1997)


            Fiction, the first half of Storytelling, opens with Vi having sex with her boyfriend, Marcus, who is afflicted with cerebral palsy. When they finish, Vi is anxious to leave, which Marcus suspects is because she no longer finds his handicap kinky.Marcus writes terrible short stories and, though Vi and her other creative writing classmates realize this, everyone flatters him because they are afraid of critiquing someone who is handicapped. Eventually, a classmate finally vocalizes criticisms before the black professor, Mr. Scott, unleashes a diatribe of insults ("Katherine is right. Your story is a piece of sh*t. You expressed nothing but banalities."). Marcus, hurt that Vi had not provided genuine criticism breaks up with her. Subsequently Vi meets Mr. Scott in a bar and she goes home with him. While freshening up in his bathroom, Vi discovers naked photographs of several of her white female classmates. "Don't be racist", she whispers to herself in the mirror. Upon exiting the bathroom, Mr. Scott asks her to take off her clothing and proceeds to sodomize her while demanding that she scream, "N*gger, f*ck me hard!" She returns to class, having written a thinly-veiled account of these events as a fictional short story. Her classmates immediately attack her with criticisms, calling the story racist, misogynistic, and the ramblings of a spoiled white girl.The second half Nonfiction stars Toby, a loser documentary filmmaker, and his subject Scooby, a directionless adolescent. Scooby is constantly at odds with his parents, a war that is waged nightly at the dinner table. Toby soon realizes that his documentary is aimless. It is revealed to the audience that Scooby is bisexual when he is shown apathetically allowing a male schoolmate to perform fellatio on him as he fantasizes about his parents set aflame. Toby's documentary soon changes from a respectful, educational documentary about high school students into a condescending, exploitative mockery of Scooby and his family. Scooby sneaks into an early screening of the film only to discover the audience laughing uproariously at the representation of his family. While Scooby is out, the family's ex-housekeeper, embittered by her recent firing, poisons his family with gas. Scooby returns to his home to discover that his family is dead and tells Toby coldly to not feel sorry for him because, "the movie is a hit."

            Dirty Fred (Justin Rice) and Bruho (Leo Fitzpatrick) arent sanguine about the future. Convinced that dwindling petroleum resources will soon bring the modern world to a halt, theyve dropped out of productive (and vehicular) society, choosing instead a life of free-wheeling vagabondage. Their method is to squat in off-season vacation homes until they run out of food or are chased off, but the pattern changes when they admit a runaway teen (Brian Charles Johnson) and an aimless young woman (Laura Campbell) to their peculiar tribe.

Inspired by real events, Billboard lifts the veil, on an inexperienced entrepreneur who will do anything to succeed.Not your typical bombastic publicity stunt host, Casey Lindeweiler returns home to Allentown, Pennsylvania, after he inherits an AM radio station, WTYT 960, from his father. Upon Casey's arrival, he discovers that his dad was drowning in debt and the station is being kept alive by a small band of dedicated DJs who don't want to see the only independent radio station left in town fail.Uncertain of what to do to boost ratings, Casey pulls out one of the oldest tricks in radio, the wacky contest. Casey's grand idea is to host a billboard-sitting contest where four people will live on a catwalk, in front of a billboard. Whoever lives up there the longest will win a mobile home and "nine-sixty" thousand dollars.WTYT 960 becomes the laughing stock of the community. The mockery of Casey's contest drives awareness beyond the main stream to the fringes, stirring interest in the contest, much to the chagrin of his local radio market competition. As the contest begins, Casey's lack of preparation becomes apparent as he feels the weight of responsibility for the lives of his contestants. What he thought would last days, ends up lasting a lot, lot longer.Over time, the contest begins to spiral out of Casey's control, causing him to dig deep within himself to uncover the true catalyst of what's driving him to save the station. Is his sheer determination enough?             In a future sterilized world, a city without a name is peopled by a population that are all bar-coded on their wrists and are monitored by MMM, the Multi-Media Monopoly a global corporation that runs the country like a business. Sex in this culture is for commercial reasons and those are tied to the continuance and thriving of Capitalism. Jack (Bill Sage) works at the MMM corporation and is conspiring with William (Leo Fitzpatrick) to sabotage the MMM corporation where Jack is an account manager with Cecile (Sabrina Lloyd). As Jack and Cecile make attempts at an office romance, William and some cohorts get caught in an act designed to bring down the MMM. When Jack and Cecile's affair stalls and Cecile goes to a bar for a drink, she accidentally connects with William and they spend the night together. Jack has another conspirator in the Medical industry who calls him about a girl that has been brought into the hospital and goes by the name Monday because she's from the planet of Monday. Monday (Tatiana Abracos) has come to this planet to communicate with Jack as he too is an escaped being from that planet. Jack it turns out has been here for quite some time and has experienced all the changes that have allowed him to adapt to the present society so that no one is aware of his origins. When the MMM discovers Jack and Cecile's romance she is sentenced to 3 years hard labor, teaching high school where she encounters William and decide to join forces with him to help overthrow the MMM. Jack and Monday come to an agreement about their origin on the planet Monday and Jack must make difficult decisions to insure his future and Monday's happiness.
