The film opens in the turbulent years immediately following the U.S. Civil War. Deep-seated political resentments linger between the Confederate-leaning Hatfields and the Union-aligned McCoys.

Wyatt Earp is building his own town in far northern California when he is confronted with something much worse than any of the outlaws he has faced before...the legendary and menacing Emmett Black and his Black Train.
