
            Twelve-year-old Pablo aka Pellet is stuck in a deeply abusive home ruled by his tyrannical father when he meets a new classmate, Alfredo, who befriends Pablo and introduces him to a kinder, gentler version of family life. That life is personified by Alfredo's fun-loving Bohemian father, Jose. After being caught in the rain after a fun family outing with Alfredo's family, Pablo's dark secret is revealed when Alfredo sees the bruises and scars on Pablo's body. Pablo refuses to discuss it and tells Alfredo that he fell but Alfredo doesn't believe him and tells his own parents. Pablo does not come to school for a week and Alfredo and his family become deeply concerned for him, but Pablo is too afraid to confess that his father has been beating him.One day, Pablo decides he has had enough and stands up to his father and is severely beaten in return. Pablo runs away from home and to the home of his friend Alfredo. Alfredo's parents take him to the hospital for treatment and promise they will watch over him and won't allow his father access to him. But a family friend tells Alfredo's parents that Pablo's dad could press kidnapping charges against them so they decide to call Pablo's father and tell him where he is. When Pablo finds out, he runs away and finally ends up telling social services about the abuse.

            The feature is as much a historical snap shot of Spain during the Civil War, prior to Franco's assent as it is a tale of love in a time where the lines between good and evil seemed to be a lot clearer than the current times. Carol (Claro Lago) comes to Spain with her mother Aurora ( Maria Barranco) to their homeland where their father Robert, an American (Ben Temple) is helping to fight Franco's military regime near Madrid. They settle into a small town of Aurora's birth, living with a grandfather and forming bonds with old and new friends. Aurora has come here to die (of an illness no one is made clearly aware of) and leave Carol in the hands of her sister and father. The plot livens up as love blossoms between Carol and Tomiche (Juan Jose Ballesta) and as a love of daughter for a father becomes evident. Towards the end, it becomes clear that the Franco regime has won and her father desprately seeks his daughter as a fugitive in the "new Spain". The end is tragic as Tomiche dies and Carol's father is captured but hope still exists that Carol and her father will be reunited.

            Alejandro is an elderly writer, and is driving back to the small costal village where he was born and raised. But the peaceful place of his memories has been turned into a vast tourist resort, full of brazen consumerism with no charm left at all. Once there, Alejandro reminisces about a painful episode from his past. When he was a child he met a mysterious woman whom he has been trying to forget ever since. A woman of wild beauty, she was married to a sailor. However, there were rumours in the village that she was having a relationship with another man and so all her neighbours disowned her because of her supposedly adulterous behaviour. But Alejandro was totally and madly in love with her. 
Back in the present day, and still wrapped up in his memories, Alejandro suddenly thinks he sees her appear just around the street corner. No. No. It cant be...It was someone else. But even though it seems like madness.. it is her it is the same woman with whom he fell in love. Time has stood still for her. 
Perturbed, nervous, fearful and yet excited, Alejandro follows her but he will soon discover that she has been waiting for him
