
            Medardo Ángel Silva was an Ecuadorian poet, who was born in 19th century. He belonged to a group of Guayaquils finest poets, the Beheaded Generation, so labeled in view of the poets mysterious and premature demise, early in the twentieth century.
In 1919, just before reaching the age of 21 and when he was working as an editor at the Guayaquilean newspaper El Telégrafo, Medardo took his own life in front of his beloved
Rosita.
Medardo was a young guy in love, obsessed with a 15 year old girl, and at the same time, hopelessly attracted by death.
Set in the early twentieth century, the film Medardo takes us to learn about intimate details of the interesting but short life of this poet, his infatuation with death, his love, his conflict with a
hypocritical and conservative society, and his suicide, full of mystery and poetry.
Based on a true story and filmed entirely in and around Guayaquil City, the movie Medardo is another example of what Ecuadorian talent is capable to do. It will give current generations the
opportunity to get to know about the history and work of this important Guayaquilean character.
