            In Egypt, circa 1290 BC, high priest Imhotep engages in an affair with Anck-su-Namun, the mistress of Pharaoh Seti, despite strict rules that other men are forbidden to touch her. When the Pharaoh discovers their tryst, Imhotep and Anck-su-Namun murder the monarch. Imhotep is dragged away by his priests before the Pharaoh's guards can discover his involvement; Anck-su-Namun then kills herself, intending for Imhotep to resurrect her. After Anck-su-Namun's burial, Imhotep breaks into her crypt and steals her corpse. He and his priests flee across the desert to Hamunaptra, the City of the Dead, where they begin the resurrection ceremony. However, they are caught by Seti's guards before the ritual could be completed, and Anck-su-Namun's soul is sent back to the Underworld. For their sacrilege, Imhotep's priests are mummified alive, and Imhotep himself is forced to endure the curse of Hom Dai: his tongue is cut out and he is buried alive with a swarm of flesh-eating scarabs. The ritual curses him to become an immortal walking plague if he were ever to be resurrected. He is buried under high security, sealed away in a sarcophagus below a statue of the Egyptian god Anubis, and kept under strict surveillance throughout the ages by the Medjai, descendants of Seti's palace guards. If Imhotep were ever to be released, the powers that made him immortal would allow him to unleash a wave of destruction and death upon the Earth.In 1923, soldiers from the French Foreign Legion, led by American Rick O'Connell, make a final stand at Hamunaptra against an overwhelming force of Medjai warriors. The soldiers are massacred and O'Connell makes a final retreat inside the city, only to be cornered by a group of Medjai. However, they flee when Imhotep's evil presence manifests itself, leaving him to die in the desert.In 1926, Cairo librarian and aspiring Egyptologist, Evelyn Carnahan is presented with an intricate box and map by her bumbling brother Jonathan, who says he found it in Thebes. The map seems to point the way to the lost city of Hamunaptra, where all of the wealth of Egypt was supposedly stored; however, the museum curator, Dr. Bey, dismisses Hamunaptra as a myth, and accidentally damages the map. Jonathan reveals he actually stole it from an American (revealed to be O'Connell), who is currently in prison, and may be able to tell more about Hamunaptra. Rick tells them that he knows the location of the city from his days in the Foreign Legion. He makes a deal with Evelyn to reveal the location of Hamunaptra, in exchange for Evelyn saving Rick from being hanged. Evelyn successfully negotiates his release from the prison warden by offering him 25% of the found treasure; however, the warden insist on coming along in order to protect his investment. They board a ship to start their expedition to the city, where they encounter a band of American treasure hunters led by the famed Egyptologist Dr. Allen Chamberlain, and guided by Beni Gabor, a cowardly former Legion soldier who served with Rick and also knows the location of the lost city.During the journey, the boat is invaded by Medjai soldiers who are looking for Evelyn's box and the map. The expedition manages to fight them off, but the map is lost and the boat goes up in flames, forcing the entire party to go ashore. Rick, Evelyn and Jonathan are separated from the other treasure hunters and procure camels at a nearby market. Since Rick knows the way to the city, they arrive at Hamunaptra at the same time as the other party, but due to tensions between the two groups, they start exploring the city in separate locations. The Americans discover a chest between the legs of the statue of Anubis. They have it opened by several of their carriers, but the chest is booby-trapped and the carriers die from an acid spray. In the meanwhile, Evelyn is looking for the Book of Amun-Ra, a solid gold book supposedly capable of taking life away. Her team discovers a tomb buried directly below the statue of Anubis. Evelyn's box turns out to function as a key that opens the tomb; inside there is a sarcophagus. Suddenly, the prison warden runs by, screaming in pain. Unbeknownst to the rest, he had found a decorative scarab, but it contained a real scarab that entered his body and ate a way into his brain. The warden knocks himself into a wall and dies instantly.After a quiet evening outside, Rick and Evelyn get in a romantic mood, when suddenly, both groups are attacked by the Medjai, led by a warrior named Ardeth Bay. Rick forces a stand-off by lighting a stick of dynamite and threatening to blow everyone up. Bay warns them of the evil buried in the city, and gives them one day to leave. His groups then ride out. Rather than heed his warning, the two expeditions continue to work on their respective projects. The sarcophagus is opened, and contains the gory remains of Imhotep. The team of Americans, meanwhile, open the chest, in spite of a warning on its lid that threatens to kill everyone who takes its contents. They discover the black Book of the Dead, accompanied by canopic jars carrying Anck-su-Namun's preserved organs; each of the Americans takes a jar as loot, while Dr. Chamberlain takes the book, but Beni flees the scene out of fear for the curse.At night, Evelyn takes the Book of the Dead from the Americans' tent; her key also fits on it. She reads a page aloud, accidentally awakening Imhotep's mummified remains. Immediately, the first plague announces itself: a swarm of locusts invades the terrain, forcing everyone inside the city. The entire group is separated into smaller parties when a giant army of scarabs breaks loose, and eats everything in its path. One of the Americans gets lost, and is attacked by Imhotep, who takes his eyes and tongue while partially regenerating his body. Evelyn also encounters Imhotep, and he seems to recognize her as Anck-Su-Namun; however, Rick shoots him down before everyone flees the catacombs. They run into Ardeth and his group of Medjai warriors again. He berates them for resuccecting Imhotep, who will now bring along death and destruction. The only thing to do is flee the city, until a way can be found to kill him again. The entire group leaves, but Beni is left behind. He also encounters Imhotep, but successfully pleads for his life, and is allowed to become his slave.Both groups return to Cairo. Rick and the Americans plan to leave Egypt, but Evelyn decides to stay, reasoning that releasing the curse was their fault, so they have the responsibility to stop Imhotep. That afternoon, the next plague announces itself: water turning into blood, signaling that Imhotep is nearby. The group deduces that Imhotep will go after the four men who took the Book of the Dead and the canopic jars. Beni has indeed taken Imhotep to Cairo, helping him trace the Americans. Rick and Jonathan track down the American whose eyes were stolen; they find his desiccated body, and Imhotep slowly regenerating his own. Rick tries to kill Imhotep but he is invulnerable to weapons; only the presence of a cat in the room startles him, and he flees in a dust storm. Rick returns to his quarters as the second plague starts: violent hailstorms ravage the city. He locks Evelyn in her room to keep her safe from Imhotep, ordering the remaining two Americans to stand guard while he and Jonathan leave to warn Dr. Chamberlain. The doctor's chamber is empty, but they witness Imhotep killing Dr. Chamberlain in the streets, taking the Black Book and releasing a swarm of flies. Imhotep proceeds to Evelyn, entering the room and consuming the body of the American on guard. He enters the sleeping Evelyn's bedroom through the keyhole by transforming into sand, and tries to kiss her. Rick, Jonathan and the remaining American enter, and scare him away by threatening him with a cat.The group goes to the museum, hoping that the museum curator Dr. Bey may have some answers. They are astonished to find him together with Ardeth Bay. Dr. Bey reveals to also be a member of the secret society sworn to prevent Imhotep's resurrection (which is why he purposely tried to burn the map). He theorizes that Imhotep will fears cats (the guardians of the underworld) until he is fully immortal; he also thinks that Imhotep intends to resurrect Anck-su-Namun, using Evelyn's body to regenerate it. All of a sudden, a solar eclipse occurs, so they have to make haste. Evelyn hypothesizes that if the black Book of the Dead brought Imhotep back to life, the gold Book of Amun-Ra can kill the high priest once again. The group finds a tablet in the museum that describes the location of both books, and Evelyn deduces that the gold book must be buried beneath the statue of Horus. At that moment, a large group of natives, covered in boils and sores (the next plague) and under Imhotep's spell, surround the museum. The heroes leave the museum by car, but the remaining American is captured during the pursuit, and consumed by Imhotep. Finally cornered by his followers, the fully regenerated Imhotep offers Evelyn to come with him, in exchange for letting the others go. She agrees, but as they leave, Imhotep goes back on his words. Dr. Bey sacrifices his life by holding back the crowd of followers while the rest flee through the sewers.Rick, Jonathan and Ardeth enlist the help of Winston Havlock, a desillusioned WWI fighter pilot, to fly them over to Hamunaptra. Imhotep returns to Hamunaptra in a sandstorm, carrying Evelyn and Beni, pursued by Rick's plane. Imhotep uses his powers to cause a huge sandstorm, but distracted by Evelyn, he only succeeds in letting the plane make an emergency crash landing, killing only Winston. Rick, Jonathan and Ardeth enter Hamunaptra and discover a new area ful of Hamunaptra's famed treasures. They quickly get into a battle with Imhotep's resurrected mummy priests, so they make their way to the statue of Horus, where they find the Book of Amun-Ra. However, when cornered by the priests, Ardeth sacrifices himself to allow Rick and Jonathan to escape. Imhotep, in the meanwhile, has resurrected the mummified remains of Anck-su-Namun and is preparing to sacrifice Evelyn, when Rick and Jonathan interfere. Rick frees Evelyn from a group of mummies, while Jonathan reads an inscription on the book in order to kill Imhotep; unfortunately, this only summons a group of mummified guards, who go after Rick, while Evelyn is attacked by the resurrected Anck-su-Namun. Jonathan succeeds in finishing the inscription, giving him command of the guards just before they kill Rick; he commands the guards to kill Anck-su-Namun. Imhotep turns his anger towards Rick, while Jonathan and Evelyn succeed in opening the Book of Amun-Ra. Imhotep is about to kill Rick when Evelyn recites the counter-curse. Imhotep's immortal soul is taken from him, and he becomes mortal. Rick fatally stabs him, and rapidly decaying into a mummy again, Imhotep leaves the world of the living, vowing revenge. Beni, who was secretly dragging treasure outside, accidentally sets off an ancient booby trap. As Hamunaptra begins to collapse into the sand, Rick, Evelyn and Jonathan race towards the exit, with Jonathan accidentally dropping the gold book. Beni remains behind, and is trapped and eaten by a swarm of flesh-eating scarabs. The heroes escape before Hamunaptra disappears in the sand. Ardeth, who has unexpectedly survived, waits for them outside andthanks them for their help. They ride off into the sunset on a pair of camels laden with Beni's treasure.
    

The Mummy


            Detective Constable Mackenzie "Mac" Stone suffers blackouts about the night his wife Lucia disappeared three months earlier. He drinks heavily and obsessively searches for her, only knowing that shortly after she left, she emptied their joint bank account and called him one last time from Paris.John Dean lost his entire memory five years ago in a car crash; since his amnesia is the result of a brain injury, he has no hope of remembering his past. Dean is offered 7,000 Pounds to participate in a Cambridge lab trial which may heal his injuries and restore his memory. Dean turns it down because he does not want to know who he was before the crash. Dean is now happily married to Jenna; he handles the accounts for her newly created yacht design company.While searching missing person files for his wife, Stone decides that Dean is really a missing IT professional named Paul West. Stone's partner and best friend, Detective Constable Ian Reid, agrees to help investigate. At first it seems unlikely that Dean is West: the men resemble each other, but only slightly. West committed suicide by jumping off a Channel ferry after his wife and stepson were killed in a house fire that was ruled accidental. But West's body was never found, and Stone finds enough clues to convince him that the fire was a premeditated murder and Dean is faking his amnesia.When Stone hears that there has been an accident at Jenna's company, he rushes to the hospital, accusing Dean of attempted murder. But Dean is the one who was hurt, keeping Jenna from harm. When Dean complains to Reid, Reid reveals that Stone has not been himself since Lucia disappeared. Reid also reveals that Stone, and only Stone, believes that Dean is a man named Paul West, who killed his wife and stepson.Stone's behavior becomes even more erratic. He seems to see Lucia leave their house. Stone receives an anonymous letter reading "Why did you do it?". Stone gives the letter to Reid to investigate. Stone admits he has waking nightmares, seeing Lucia everywhere. Since he was drunk the night she left, Stone cannot remember what they argued about. He thinks he remembers blood or mud on his clothes afterward. Reid asks Stone if Stone hit Lucia, but Stone cannot remember. Reid discovers that the letter was created on the same kind of computer and printer that Stone owns. Stone receives a second anonymous letter reading "Why did you kill her?". He hides the letter from Reid.Jenna's new yacht designing business is having financial trouble. She discovers that she is pregnant. Dean agrees to participate in the Cambridge trial for the money. The Cambridge trial discovers that there is no physical damage to Dean's brain; if he ever had amnesia, he does not have it now. Dean does not tell Jenna.A third anonymous letter is set to Reid at the police station reading "Check Stone joint account". Reid shows it to his boss, Detective Inspector Brennan. Reid expresses his belief that Stone killed Lucia in a jealous rage, when Stone learned Lucia was unfaithful. Brennan asks how Reid can know this, and Reid admits he was having an affair with Lucia. Acknowledging that Reid might not be objective, Brennan tells Reid to investigate Lucia's disappearance. Reid finds no record of Lucia buying a plane or train ticket to Paris; no record of her calling Stone from Paris; and no record she withdrew any money after she disappeared. Reid tells Brennan of Stone's drinking, blackouts and obsession with Dean; Reid expresses his belief that Stone is sending the anonymous letters himself, as a subconscious confession.Stone's continued investigation puts a strain on Dean's marriage. Jenna suggests terminating the pregnancy and Dean agrees. At the last minute, she can't go through with the abortion.Stone's investigation of Dean leads him to conclude that Dean has created other fake identities in the past and committed other murders. Stone believes Dean's MO is to find a woman who has just gone through a messy divorce, marry her, convince her to "follow her dreams" by starting a company with him, embezzle as much money as possible from the company, kill her and then fake his own death. Stone believes that Dean kills the women when they discover his secret -- or become pregnant (because a baby's DNA will be evidence tying Dean to his victim).Brennan performs an illegal search of Stone's house and finds a large bloodstain under the carpet. Brennan has Stone arrested for Lucia's murder. Stone leads the police to the spot where he last remembers seeing Lucia. Instead of finding a body, they discover Lucia herself, alive. She confirms that Stone has not been hallucinating: she has been in the area, trying to get up the nerve to end her marriage and her affair with Reid in a more adult manner. She also confirms to the police that she did empty the joint bank account, book a ticket to Paris under her own name, and called Stone from Paris. She also confirms that Stone hit her on the night she left, which explains the blood stain. Brennan and the other police realize that Dean must have electronically tampered with the evidence of Lucia leaving to frame Stone for her murder.Dean talks Jenna into taking a vacation, sailing a client's yacht to Saint-Malo, France. In the middle of the English channel, Jenna finds a hidden, waterproof package with a large amount of cash and ID documents for Dean's next identity. Before Dean can kill her, Stone and Brennan arrive in a police boat. As Jenna jumps overboard and is rescued, Stone and Dean fight on the yacht. Dean tauntingly says that Stone will not get what he wants and leaps off the yacht, disappearing under the water. The police cannot find Dean's body.The film ends with Dean in an unnamed resort, conning another woman into following her dreams. He introduces himself as "Mac Stone".

            The film follows Helen Quilley (Gwyneth Paltrow), a young Englishwoman living in London who has just been fired from her public relations job. The plot splits into two parallel universes, based on the two paths her life could take depending on whether she catches a London Underground train or not.In the timeline in which she makes the train, she meets James (John Hannah) on the underground and they strike up a conversation. She gets home in time to catch her boyfriend Gerry (John Lynch) in bed with his American ex-girlfriend Lydia (Jeanne Tripplehorn); she dumps him and moves in with her friend Anna (Zara Turner). James continues to serendipitously pop into Helen's life, cheering her up and encouraging her to start her own public relations firm. Helen gets a new makeover by cutting her hair short and dying it blond. She and James fall in love despite Helen's reservations about beginning another relationship so soon after her ugly breakup with Gerry.In the timeline in which she misses the train, she then hails a taxi instead but gets mugged when a man snatches her handbag. Helen hits her head in the scuffle and goes to hospital. She arrives home late, giving Lydia time to leave. Helen carries on with her life oblivious of Gerry's infidelity, and begins working part-time jobs to pay bills. Gerry conceals his infidelity and juggles the two women in his life; Lydia even interacts with Helen on several occasions. Helen has a number of conflicts with Gerry, then discovers she's pregnant with his baby, but delays telling him.In the first timeline, Helen discovers she's pregnant, believing it is with James' child, and goes to see him at his office. She is stunned to learn from James' secretary that he is married. Upset, she disappears. James finds her on a bridge and explains that he was married but is now separated and planning to divorce. He and his soon-to-be ex-wife maintain a cordial relationship for the sake of his sick mother. After she and James declare their love for another, Helen walks out into the road and is hit by a car.In the second timeline, Helen tells Gerry she has a job interview with an international PR firm. Thinking Helen is at the interview, Gerry sees Lydia, who is also pregnant with his child. While there, the doorbell rings and Lydia tells Gerry to answer it. Helen is there, and is stunned when Lydia tells her she can't do the interview because she's "deciding whether or not to keep your boyfriend's baby." Distraught over finally catching her two-timing boyfriend's infidelity, Helen runs and falls down Lydia's staircase.In both timelines, after her accident (hit by a car in the first timeline, and falling down the stairs in the second) Helen goes to hospital and happens to end up in the very same emergency room in both timelines, and loses her baby. In the timeline in which she caught the train, she dies from internal bleeding in the arms of her newfound love. In the timeline in which she didn't, she recovers and tells Gerry to leave for good. Before waking up, she sees flashes of the other Helen's life.In the final scene (now taking place solely in the "missed the train" universe), James is leaving the hospital after visiting his mother, and Helen is leaving after ending her relationship with Gerry. Helen drops an earring in the elevator and it is picked up by James. This mirrors the start of the film, where James picks up Helen's earring on the elevator after Helen is fired from her job. Before the doors close, James tells Helen to cheer up, and repeats his line, "You know what the Monty Python boys say..." Helen (who, in the beginning of the film, assumed the rejoinder to be "always look on the bright side of life.") says, " Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition." She and James stare at one another, each surprised by her response. The doors close and the audience is left to wonder what will become next.

A Midsummer Night's Dream


            In 3067 BC, a warrior known as the Scorpion King (Dwayne Johnson), led his army on a campaign to conquer the known world. After seven years of fighting, the Scorpion King and his army were defeated and exiled to the desert of Ahm Shere. One by one they died of heat exhaustion, leaving only the Scorpion King who swears an oath to Anubis, god of the underworld, exchanging his soul for the power to defeat his enemies. Anubis grants his wish, creating an oasis to hide the Scorpion King's pyramid and by giving him his army, an endless legion of demonic anthropomorphic jackal-headed warriors, to exact his revenge. The Army of Anubis sweeps across Egypt, destroying everything in its path, but once their task was finished, Anubis claims the Scorpion King's soul and his army.In 1933, Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evelyn O'Connell (Rachel Weisz) are exploring a pyramid in the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes with their son, Alex. Within, they discover and collect the Bracelet of Anubis which sets off a trap causing Rick and Evelyn to narrowly escape the pyrmaid as it floods with water. Meanwhile, Alex encounters three looters who flee after the walls start to collapse. Back in London, Alex puts the bracelet on which mystically provides him with directions to the oasis of Ahm Shere. Since it is the year of the Scorpion, Alex has seven days to reach the oasis, or the bracelet would kill him on the eighth day the moment the rays of the sun shine on him; at that point the Scorpion King and his army will also reawaken.Later, Alex is captured by an Egyptian cult who have resurrected Imhotep: their purpose for doing so is to use Imhotep's power to defeat the Scorpion King, which would give him command of the Army of Anubis. The cult, led by Baltus Hafez (Alun Armstrong), the curator of the British Museum, includes a psychopathic warrior named Lock-Nah and Meela Nais, the reincarnation of Imhotep's love Anck-su-namun. The O'Connells set out to rescue Alex, accompanied by Evelyn's brother Jonathan and their old mate-in-arms, the Medjai Ardeth Bay. Rick's associate from his past adventures, Izzy, an airship pilot, provides transportation.The instructions are given to Alex in stages, and he leaves clues to the next location for his parents to find. Ardeth sends a message to a growing army of his fellow Medjai, intended to stop the army of Anubis as it awakens. Along the way, the O'Connells learn of their connections to Imhotep and the Scorpion King himself: in a past life, Evelyn was Nefertiri, daughter of Seti I and protector of the Bracelet of Anubis. Rick is a Medjai, trusted to protect Evelyn. Together with their son Alex, who is the path to Ahm Shere, they make up the three sides of a pyramid. In the meantime, Imhotep brings Anck-su-namun's soul back from the underworld and places it in Meela's body, restoring her completely.As the two groups arrive at the oasis where the Scorpion King's temple lies, the cultists are attacked by mummified pygmies and ambushed by Rick, Evelyn, Jonathan, and Ardeth. The cultists are all killed with the exception of Hafez, their leader. Lock-Nah is then killed by Ardeth, who leaves the group to assume command of the Medjai army. Rick saves Alex and manages to get him to the pyramid moments before the bracelet can kill him, and Alex is able to remove it. However, when Jonathan and Evelyn catch up, Anck-su-namun walks into the pyramid courtyard with Imhotep and stabs Evelyn in the stomach, killing her. Hafez takes the bracelet and uses it to release the Army of Anubis, whom the Medjai engage in battle.Imhotep's powers are stripped from him by Anubis, forcing him to fight the Scorpion King as a mortal. Rick enters the temple as Imhotep summons the Scorpion King, now in the form of a half-human, half-scorpion monster. Imhotep feigns allegiance to the King, who then focuses his wrath on Rick, killing Hafez when he stumbles in. Meanwhile, Jonathan distracts Anck-su-namun while Alex uses the Book of the Dead to revive his mother; and Evelyn engages in a battle with Anck-su-namun. At the same time, Ardeth and the remnants of the Medjai army defeat the first wave of Anubis warriors, only to discover what they fought was only the vanguard, and now the full force of Anubis' army is bearing down on them. Outnumbered, the Medjai prepare to make their last stand.Rick's battle is going badly, but he sees a series of illustrations on the walls depicting a person sharing the mark on his wrist. The illustrations reveal that the Scorpion King can be killed by the Spear of Osiris, which Jonathan has been carrying throughout the film. Although Jonathan's attempt to throw the spear results in Imhotep catching it and nearly delivering the blow himself, Rick is able to intercept it and stab the Scorpion King himself. He orders him (and his army) back to the underworld, turning both the Scorpion King and the Army of Anubis into sand, seconds before they hit the Medjai lines.Rick and Imhotep race to escape the now-collapsing pyramid temple. A chasm leading to the underworld appears, and Rick and Imhotep fall in, barely managing to cling onto the edges of the opening. Evelyn enters the room and manages to save Rick, but Anck-su-namun is unwilling to do the same for Imhotep. Shocked and heartbroken, Imhotep willingly casts himself into the chasm; meanwhile, as she flees, Anck-su-namun accidentally falls into a pit of scarabs and is suffocated. The family climbs to the top of the pyramid and meet up with Izzy. They escape unharmed and with a massive diamond that Jonathan pulled from the top of the pyramid. The group sets off into the sunset, a grateful Ardeth bidding them farewell.
    

The Mummy Returns


            Note: this movie is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name with a similar plot, but with the gender roles reversed.The film starts with Kate Sullivan (Anna Faris) trying to study for her nurse exam while on her way to her job as a pizza delivery person. On the way to a delivery, she has to pick up her three daughters - Emily (Hannah Nordberg), Olivia (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Molly (Peyton Lepinski) - from school. Emily is embarrassed to be riding with her mom in a pizza car.Meanwhile, we are introduced to Leonardo 'Leo' Montenegro (Eugenio Derbez), a spoiled and arrogant rich playboy enjoying life on his yacht. Being a snob, he is very filthy rich and verbally abusive to all of his personal staff and other people in general. In Mexico, Leo's sisters Magdalena (Cecilia Suarez) and Sofia (Mariana Trevino) are tending to their ailing father (Fernando Lujan). Mr. Montenegro decides that he should let Leo become his successor to his company, but Magda heavily objects to this because Leo has always been irresponsible and unreliable.Kate goes to her second job as a cleaner and must go on Leo's yacht. She meets him as he wakes up and is nude before he makes rude remarks about Kate and her physical appearance. After Kate finishes cleaning, Leo orders her to get him some fruit, but she objects since she was only hired to clean up. Leo promptly fires her, leading Kate to call him out on his boorish and obnoxious behavior, which his crew sees over the cameras and intercom, to their enjoyment. The boat then starts to leave the dock, so Kate tries to tell the captain to not leave yet so she can get off, but he doesn't hear her. Leo pushes Kate off the boat and throws her equipment into the water, costing Kate her job and forcing her to owe the cleaning company money for the equipment.Leo talks to Magda when she visits him on the boat over the matter of handling the company, which he doesn't take seriously. Later on, Leo is about to have some fun with a young woman when he goes to look for condoms. He slips off and hangs on for his life, but he ends up falling into the ocean with nobody noticing.Leo wakes up on a beach wearing only a robe. He wanders into town and is found by a cop who chases him down. Leo ends up in the hospital with amnesia, having no memory of who he is or what happened to him. Magda goes to the hospital to find him, but then suddenly denies he is her brother upon seeing him. Kate and her boss Teresa (Eva Longoria) hear about the news, and the two ladies hatch a plan, which is one part revenge and another part meant to use Leo to help support Kate and the girls.Kate goes to the hospital pretending to be Leo's wife to pick him up, complete with a fake marriage certificate, pictures, and a whole story. Leo doesn't believe her until she points out that he has a tattoo of Speedy Gonzalez on his butt, which he does. Kate takes him home and introduces him to the girls while making up things that Leo wouldn't remember. She even makes him sleep in the shed after making him think he is a recovering alcoholic.Magda returns to Sofia and their father to falsely report that Leo has died, bringing Mr. Montenegro an urn with what he believes to be Leo's ashes.Kate sets Leo up with a job working for Teresa's husband Bobby (Mel Rodriguez) as part of a construction crew. They work to build a pool for a rich guy, but Leo gets tired real quick after never having done any physical work his whole life. When he gets home, Kate makes Leo do other household chores like cooking and laundry.Over time, Leo becomes accustomed to his job and even starts to develop a bond with the girls. He watches sports with Olivia, teaches Molly to ride a bike without training wheels, and even helps Emily with her self-esteem issues.Kate starts to feel guilty over the lie and decides that it may be time to tell Leo the truth. She changes her mind when she sees how much the girls enjoy having Leo around, and she ends up lying again and telling him that it's their anniversary and she just forgot. The two go out dancing where they share their first kiss and later go home to sleep together for the first time.Leo finds his condoms in Kate's car since that's all that was found on him after he was taken to the hospital. He questions her about this, at which point she decides it's time to come clean about the fact that they aren't actually married. The girls keep the lie going because they like Leo. Teresa even covers for Kate and says they are hers because she is a sex addict. As Kate is talking to Teresa about this, Leo comes out to tell Kate that the results of her nurse exam came back, and she passed and is now officially a registered nurse. They have a celebration party with their friends.Meanwhile, Leo's family is having a memorial service for him until one of their crew members show Mr. Montenegro a recently taken picture of Leo. They drive to Kate's house in a limo, and Leo quickly recognizes them as his family. This immediately brings his memory back, leading him to remember who he really is and that Kate is the cleaning lady he got into a fight with. He gets angry and upset about Kate lying to him, and he goes home with his family. The girls tearfully run after him and plead for him to stay, but the limo drives off.After a while, both Leo and Kate start to miss each other. Kate and the girls go with Bobby and Teresa on Bobby's boat to go after the yacht. On the yacht, Mr. Montenegro tells Leo he wants him to succeed him in their family's company, but Leo decides he is better off with Kate, but his father thinks he would be wasting his time with her. Sofia then reveals that she found out that Magda deliberately left Leo in the hospital so that she can go ahead and take over the company for herself. Leo then sees Kate and everyone else coming on the other boat. After declaring their mutual love for one another, he jumps off the yacht to swim to Kate, and she does the same. However, Leo stops when his dad tells him that if he turns his back on the company, he won't get a single cent. Leo hesitates but decides that his life was richer when he had nothing with Kate. He rejoins her and they kiss.Leo returns to life with Kate and the girls. They are visited by Leo's former employee Colin (John Hannah), who says that Sofia found out that Leo still owns the deed to the yacht, and as it is worth $60 million, he can sell it and he, Kate, and the girls will be set. Meanwhile, Magda is left to spearhead a division for poor children overseas where she is miserable.The film ends with Kate and Leo getting married for real on the yacht.
