            19-year-old freshman Hannah has always felt like an outsider. Something is missing. Although she is an incredible stage actor with a lovable naivety, She has always had a deep seated feeling that she has no right to exist. Because of escalating health and psychological problems her parents reveal to her that she was adopted and was never told because of the shocking and heartbreaking circumstances surrounding her birth. With her identity and world thrown into turmoil she sets out on a spring break road trip to New Orleans with her best friend Jason, his girlfriend and a host of misfits piled into a decrepit VW minibus. Everyone else is on the ride for good times, but Hannah is determined to use the opportunity to return to the city of her birth and find the answers she craves - something her overprotective father has forbidden her to do. As she finds herself closer than ever to the truth, she also finds herself closer than ever to Jason, and sparks begin to fly between the two - something his girlfriend Alanna finds infuriating. Finally Hannah and Jason embark alone to Mobile, Alabama, the city of her birth, and Hannah discovers that sometimes the truth can be more painful than a lie and she must choose between confronting her birth mother or returning home. Ultimately Hannah discovers the freedom she has always wanted and the true power of forgiveness.

synopsis
Nathan Hanaghan leaves college, during spring break, for his beautiful hometown of Shelton Harbor, North Carolina. With a ring in his pocket he has every intention of surprising his long time love Sharon Donahue with a proposal.
The surprise however falls on Nathan when he finds out that Sharon is now in love with his best friend Jeremiah Joelsey.
Unable to cope with the loss, Nathan takes off. Instead of returning to college, Nathan heads to Angler Island. The same island where his father Curtis has been "hiding out" since the death of his wife; Nathan's mother.
Several years later, Curtis comes to realize the poor example he has set for his son. He tries to convince Nathan to leave the island with him and get back to living life again. Nathan does eventually decide to leave the island, but instead of joining his father, he goes back to Shelton Harbor to make amends with the past.
This proves to be difficult for Nathan once he finds out that Sharon and Jeremiah are now married and expecting a baby. Still unable to forgive them, Nathan forms an unlikely friendship with Jeremiah's younger sister, Miranda Joelsey.
This is a dream come true for Miranda, who has secretly been in love with Nathan for as long as she can remember. Nathan begins to have feelings for her as well, but is unwilling to give into those feelings out of fear of risking his heart again.
