James Andrew Fraser was born in Regina, Saskatchewan. He is of Scottish, Irish and Flemish ancestry. His father Donald Andrew Fraser is a retired executive of a Canadian Grocery Chain; his mother Bernice Ina (nee VanDeKerckhove) is a nurse. His fascination with acting was sparked when a babysitter told him that Daniel Day-Lewis was "just pretending" in "My Left Foot". He had his first taste of "pretending" playing a chick in his Grade 1 class play. He continued acting in school productions but in high school soccer and rugby became more important to him.Acting found its way back into James' life when he played Demetrius in a production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The following year he attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He played on the Rugby team but after he injured his shoulder for the second time, he once again got involved with the Theatre. He acted in six productions with Theatre Antigonish ranging from Musicals to Shakespeare.Doing what was expected of him he moved back to Calgary and worked in Finance. With a promotion in front of him he refused to sign and quit to pursue his dream. James and his friends made a short about distracted driving entitled "Trafford Road". It screened the following year at the Edmonton International Film Festival. Soon after James moved to Toronto to help propel his acting career.In Toronto, James was cast in film, television, and commercials. He also produced and directed some of his award winning writing (Fresh Voices Top Ten & Semi-Finalist). After performing for renowned acting coach Tom Todoroff he was offered a spot at his Conservatory in NYC.Now living and working between Canada & NYC, you can watch him on "The Enemy Within", "BULL" , "Blue Bloods" and "The Blacklist" or starring in "TAPE" a web series he directed co-wrote and produced which was picked up by a distributor and is available on Amazon Prime, "Dark Horse" (a web series with over 30K followers) or in a handful of short films one of which "Buffalo" James was nominated for "Best Supporting Actor" at PIIF (Prague International Indie Film Festival) as well as @ "_lion_eyez" an Instagram and YouTube account inspired by his short of the same name which is in pre-production.
