Bound: Africans versus African Americans


            Story is post nuclear, according to the narrator, the character Clark. There are 12 stations combined; now only the Ark is left: cobbled together from the original twelve."One from many". Another hundred years, four more generations. Prisoners are kept if they are under eighteen year old. They are incarcerated in a "skybox", every offense for adults equals death. Our narrator, Clark, is apparently in for a watch or the watch was her father's watch and she is in because of something he did, perhaps. One hundred kids are about to be sent to the ground. Clark sees her mother and then she gets darted in the back.
There is one small ship going down to earth. It turns out the guy sitting next to Clark is named Wells and he got himself arrested on purpose.
Second chance speech is given by Well's dad on a recording. 'You are the ones we send on this desperate mission for your crimes' is something he rambles on about in his speech which seemed to be going on in the background. There is a place called Mt weather that can sustain 300 people for two years. The parachutes deploy.
Back on station: "We have lost contact"
Back on ship "your father/my father OMG the ship is a hundred years old."
"listen no machine hum"
One guy is dead already from the crash and for getting out of his seat. Something about following the knife guy; who might have altered the course somehow.
"The air could be toxic" Clark says when they go to open the door now that they are on the ground.
This guy borrowed a guard's uniform and he is Tabia Blake's brother in a guard's uniform.
Tabia Blake steps out first. 'I'm Radioactive' plays and everyone cheers and rushes out.
Clark looks at a map and talks to some guy (with a knife) who calls her "princess" relentlessly.
"do you se that peak over there: mt weather. Radioactive forest. You dropped us on the wrong damn mountain." She says to him. Station: 'communications are down but the wrist bands are recording'. "two dead kids, dark tiles"
It seems there might have been fatalities from landing, lots of concern about radiation.
Back on Earth: Tabia and Clark argue about who is in charge and a twenty mile trek. "Chancelor" and "privileged" are mentioned by some guys.
Wells and some guys start fighting. Wells has one leg? Spacewalker breaks it up.
Tabia needs to have fun, Bell, right? Bell needs his sister's trust because they are going to kill him when they come down.
Spacewalker is the second guy 'dead' but only because he tried to take his wrist band off. Clark lectures him about it. Dr. Griffin goes to the OR for the Chancelor who has been shot. She needs O-NEG type and inordinate amounts of medical supplies and drugs to save the gunshot victim.
Five people trek out to the Mt. Weather talking about poison sumac conversation. Someone stole herbs from the garden. They see a mutant deer.
The OR scene used up too much blood and anethesia, breaking the law. "Keep us notified for news." "Bellany Blake did it (shot the Chancelor) for Octavia Blake." "All of this only buys us another month." "Start killing hundreds of innocent people." "First son first to dye" Bellany lectures the guys with the knife that were harassing Wells. "You are helping them by wearing those bracelets. Take em off so the ark doesn't follow."
Station: Murphy and Imbeggy are both named John and whom are dead (took off their bracelets). "It isn't radiation cuz they would all be dead and it would be 'bang' they are dead."
Forest trekkers: Clark tells them three months or four cuz the ark is dying. "Floated your old man the engineer against the council or else he would go public with the information that the Ark is dying."
Spacewalker. "we have to warn them, clark thats is what my father said"
Octavia undresses and jumps into a river to swim. Boy sees ripples. Octavia caught by some snakelike thing and dragged under.
Octavia escapes and her friends help her out of the water.
Night and everyone is removing their bracelets near a fire and cheering.
Wells confronts Bells about it. Bells is taking over and Wells is argueing about it.
They start chanting "whatever the hell we want" after bells says it.
Then a thunderstorm breaks and everyone cheers some more.
Back on the Ark: Griffin is arrested for using too much medicine.
Cain is temporary chancelor and sentences her to death the next morning. Griffin is locked up in her daughter's cell and sees the artwork. Clark wakes up the forest is glowing she walks off to (its very avatar) Spacewalker comes up says "pretty cool huh" and gives her a sip from a leaf and she follows him to see a weird track of something on two feet he guesses "monkeys". Station: Cain is confronted by one of his officers about his starting his killing spree. She says "please show mercy if not for Abby (Griffin) for me."
Bells wakes up Wells with a gun in his face and marches him off and tells him "I need them to think you are dead" and interrrogtes him about his dad (the Chancellor).
Wells gets jumped and they cut off his wristband by force.
Station Griffin stares out a window and then it is time. The officer who is her friend and tried to convince Cain says goodbye and they put her in an airlock and she tells Jackson to reverse engineer the wristband and to talk to Sinclair an engineer (like her executed husband). Suddenly Chancellor Wells shows up and pardons her.
The Hundred are listening to 'under a pale blue sky' and Fin Spacewalker almost swings out on a vine passes the vine to the other guy who says "see you on the other side" he dances around and cheers.
Guy on other side picks up a sign and holds it up and gets a spear in his chest and dies. Clarks says "we're not alone"
We see previews including images of masked mutants in the trees, more ships come down, iridescent butterflies and plenty of interesting plot twists in next week's episode.

            The movie about a teen who is battling with his sexuality. His two closes friends find out and are cool with it but the female friend is teased because she's a virgin. The two eventually have sex together so that she could lose her virginity to someone she knew cared about her and he so that he could make sure that he was actually gay. He then goes to this school to audition for a play only to find out that the star of the play is also gay and develops a crush on him. The main character is torn between all the bible beating the mom ( actor Monique) preaches to him and his urge to find love with a man. Later in the movie, he starts making out with him in front of his home and his mother comes out and catches him. She drags him out of the car and into the house humiliating him in front of his friend. He later goes to meet with the guy and has his first sexual experience with him. Towards the end of the movie the daughter is found alive and the son brings home his "boyfriend" and introduces him to the family. The movies so all over the place and the ending is the entire time.... He was dreaming. The role that Monique plays is of a mother mourning the death of her young daughter and she blames her son for her disappearance. She is also not excepting of his sexuality and blames it on the disappearance of her daughter.Her role does not show her range nor does it really show how or why she is the way she is. No plot.The movie lacks substance and it a little all over the place. The main actor needs a lot more coaching with his acting. Monique's role and acting is marginal to other roles she's been in. It's a typical church vs homosexuality movie. Another after school special.

            Joe Gavilan and his younger, more inept partner, K. C. Calden, are at target practice at the police station. K.C. misses all of his shots, and Gavilan easily hits both his target and Calden's dead-center.Later, at a rave, a DJ plays the music as a rap group sings on stage. Two men make their way into the club's back rooms, don masks, and then brandish guns. They step out of the rooms and shoot up the club, killing the rap group. Amid the chaos, the perpetrators flee. Later, Gavilan, who is pulled away from an appointment with a potential buyer for his old house, meets Calden at the crime scene and the two investigate, finding several important clues. After the investigation, Gavilan and Calden part ways, and Calden sees a hooker get into Gavilan's car, but he's too far away to notice that the hooker is actually an undercover male cop in drag, who knows Gavilan. Gavilan and the man drive away and discuss their respective current cases, and Calden drives off as well. Gavial drops the man off and goes home, where he drinks and calls into a late-night psychic talk show, where he appears to be a regular caller. Meanwhile, a man in a suit meets with the two men who shot up the club, and kills them, and burns their corpses. The next day, at the police station, Bennie Macko, and a few other internal affairs people search Gavilan's and Calden's lockers, and, unsatisfied, leave them alone. Gavilan and Calden go to the office of the rap group's manager, Antoine Sartain, and question him, and Calden runs into some old friends from school. That night, Gavilan meets with Ruby, the psychic from the talk show, who is his girlfriend.Gavilan and Calden meet with a man who Gavilan is selling a house for, as he moonlights in real estate. They leave, and Calden goes to examine the corpses without Gavilan, who has to see another client, and in exchange, Gavilan will come to his upcoming stage performance of A Streetcar Named Desire. Called, who is obviously not comfortable around dead bodies, examines the charred corpses of the two gunmen at the autopsy room in the station and calls Gavilan about it. Gavial thanks him, and then meets with the DJ from the club, and they agree on a price for a home. That night, Gavilan meets with Ruby again.
Macko, who is determined to ruin Gavilan due to their bad history, frames Gavilan and Calden, and has them interrogated, After getting off free, Gavilan and Calden, gain a lead when they learn that K-Roc, a songwriter for the group, has gone missing. They track him to his home, and after a lengthy chase, apprehend him for questioning. They learn that the group was about to terminate their contract with Sartaine, so he had them killed. The two grab Ruby, and she helps them track down Sartaine and his henchmen. After a large-scale chase and shootout, Gavilan chases Sartaine to a rooftop where the two engage in a brutal fist fight that finally ends when Sartaine falls from the roof and meets his demise in a dumpster below.

Joe Torre: Curveballs Along the Way


            In Manhattan, New York City, Judy, also known as Girl 6 (Theresa Randle), is at a very awkward audition with Quentin Tarantino. Judy seems to grin and bear it. Tarantino reveals that the film Judy is auditioning for is "the greatest romantic, African-American film ever made. Directed by me, of course." However, Judy grows suspicious of the audition, when "Q.T.", tells her that "Wesley, Denzel, and Fishburne" are signed up to play supporting roles. Judy seems to keep her cool until it is requested that she remove her blouse so "Q.T." and his assistant can see her breasts. She reluctantly complies, but not for long. She walks out on the audition.Her agent (John Turturro) is furious. Having worked hard to get Judy her audition with such a prestigious director, he quickly and angrily drops her from his roster of clients. Her melodramatic acting coach (Susan Batson) is also extremely displeased. When Judy tells her why she did not go through with the audition, the acting coach still does not see any reason why Judy should have walked out. This, topped with the fact that Judy has not paid her rent in a very long while, forces her to drop Judy from her roster of clients as well.Now unable to secure acting work, Judy must find a way to make ends meet. She tries a number of jobs: passing out fliers, waiting tables at a club, etc. At one point she agrees to be an extra on a movie set. However, it is cold and unpleasant, as is the director. Judy is sick with a cold, and still trying to secure work. While reading a newspaper, she sees an ad for a "friendly phone line", as well as one with the headline, "mo money, mo money, mo money". She circles them both.This brings her to a meeting at a phone sex office. She meets the boss (Jenifer Lewis), who seems to be an assertive but friendly woman. The two click and the "audition" goes over just fine. The boss, now known as Lil, says that although she can't promise anything, she'll put in the good word for Judy. Judy also goes to another meeting, but the boss there wants her to do more visually related work, so she declines. Then, she attends another meeting, at a strip club/phone sex line with a relaxed boss (Madonna). She would take the job, but the content allowed for on-line discussion is a bit too heavy for her taste. She decides to stick to her original application with Lil.We now look in on Judy's dissolved relationship with her kleptomaniac ex-husband (Isaiah Washington), as well as her relationship with her baseball-memorabilia obsessed best friend, Jimmy (Spike Lee). Jimmy is reliant on his collection for money, but until it accumulates enough age to be worth money, he gets his rent money from Judy.Throughout the film, the phone sex line, having been secured at Lil's company, begins to take its mental toll on the newly christened Girl 6. She has to pretend to be white for all her clients unless they specifically request a black girl. She trusts her clients too much at times, and even agrees to meet one of her callers at Coney Island, but when he sees that she is not white he passes by her bench and ignores her when she calls out to him and pretends he isn't the man she was meeting. It is visible to everybody, especially Lil and Jimmy, that Judy is having a breakdown. The movie culminates in a dark sequence in which she enters a snuff fantasy with a caller (Michael Imperioli). It becomes serious when she discovers the caller knows where she lives. Running upstairs for shelter with Jimmy, she decides that it is time to leave the phone sex career behind and get her acting career in motion. Finally reconciling with her ex, she decides to move to Los Angeles.Oddly enough once in California, Judy attends another audition in which she experiences the same problem as the one with "Q.T." She again walks out. However, it is clear that Girl 6 has reclaimed her dignity, and will find work sooner or later. On that hopeful note, the film comes to a close.
