A national award-winning storyteller, Tejas, is invited to the school where he'd studied in the 1980s. He narrates an experience that he had encountered in his childhood. As a child, he grew up on the banks of the beautiful river Narmada, in Gujarat, India. He had three best friends: Tara, Gagan, and Sameer. The ambiance of the village was picturesque. All of them spent a lot of their time wandering and playing around the village. Life in the village was liberating, full of imaginations and unlimited fun.All of them had demons and obstacles of their own that they were fighting at home. Tejas was a son of a fisherman, who had sailed to the other side of the river and never came back. Tara was upset about her mother giving birth to her younger sister. Gagan's uncle was mentally challenged, and was also abused by Gagan's father. Sameer's sister, whom he felt very close to, was about to get married to a boy in the city.In spite of their individual situations, they had a common dream: they felt that if they went to the other side of the river, nothing would bother them ever again. They all shared a dream of a world full of joy and wonder. They expressed this wish to go on to the other side with their family members. There was a belief in this village that if you went to the other side of the river, you would never come back alive. The family members forbade this wish. One day, the children met a mysterious boatman whom they thought could fulfill their wish. They felt their dream to reach the other side of the river would soon become a reality. They shared the dream of going to the other side with him. The other side of the river was a country of butterflies in their mind. Tejas asked the boatman to take all of them to the other side. The boatman denied this, as he too had a bad experience while sailing to the other side. Eventually, upon Tejas emotionally blackmailing the boatman, he agreed, but on one condition...Were the children able to fulfill the condition? Did the boatman take them to the other side? Was there a country of butterflies on the other side? After all, what did happen that Tejas cherishes this incident after so many years? Let the illusion (Mrugtrushna) unfold before you.
