            The film opens with Michael (Noam Jenkins), a police informant, finding himself ensnared in a deadly trap created by the Jigsaw Killer (Tobin Bell). A videotaped message informs him that a Venus flytrap-like helmet full of spikes has been locked around his neck and will close on his head unless he finds the key in time. Michael realizes, through hints left by Jigsaw, that the key has been implanted behind his right eye. He finds a scalpel nearby, but cannot bring himself to cut out his own eye. When the timer runs out, the device slams shut, killing him instantly.After arguing with his rebellious teenage son Daniel (Erik Knudsen), Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) is called to the scene of yet another death perpetrated by Jigsaw on account of his name being written on the wall. Noticing that a padlock on the iron maiden-like device around the victim's neck bares a Wilson Steel logo, he gathers a SWAT team and arrives at the company's abandoned factory, which has now become another lair of Jigsaw's. A set of computer monitors shows several people trapped in a mysterious house, with Daniel among them; a timer is also present, with less than two hours left. Considerably weakened by his rapidly-advancing brain cancer, Jigsaw informs detective Mathews that he will see his son in a "safe, secure state" if he can sit in the room and converse with him long enough.In the house, the kidnapped people are trying to figure out how they got there. One person is passed out on the floor and later turns out to be Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith), a familiar face from the first Saw film wherein she was the only character to escape her trap. There are six people in addition to Daniel and Amanda, and none of them knows who the others are. Amanda finds a cassette player and a note falls to the floor. She plays the cassette and they all learn that the door to the house will open in three hours but a toxic nerve gas is leaking into the house which will kill them in two hours unless they can find antidotes. One of these is in a safe in the room with them; the combination to which is said to be "in the back of [their] mind." The tape also states that the key to how they are connected to each other is marked by an X. Gus (Tony Nappo) is quickly killed while peering out the door's peep hole because Xavier (Franky G) attempts to unlock the door with a key found with the note which reads "do not attempt to use the key on the door to this room."Saw II now intercuts between Jigsaw's lair as Matthews' talks with Jigsaw in an attempt to buy time while the video signal is traced, and the captives in the house trying to secure antidotes. In the basement, they find a message for Obi (Tim Burd) revealing that he helped in the capture of everybody in the house. Soon after, he is burned to death by a furnace after attempting to take the two antidotes from inside. While he is burning, he notices a switch that COULD have turned off the fire, next to a drawing of the devil (on the tape, jigsaw says "when you're in hell, only the devil can help you out"). He dies without getting the syringes out, and everyone goes back upstairs.A door without a padlock is found and Xavier pushes in the door which starts a count-down timer. Another tape is found, in which Jigsaw condemns Xavier for being a drug dealer. A pit with thousands of used hypodermic syringes is revealed, with a key to an antidote hidden within. Instead of searching the pit himself, Xavier throws Amanda in. Amanda retrieves the key, but Xavier fails to unlock the door before the timer runs out. The antidote remains locked up.Back in Jigsaw's office, he reveals that the people trapped in the house are all criminals who were framed by Matthews at one point, and that his son may be in danger should the others discover his identity. Matthews, growing impatient with Jigsaw's philosophical ramblings, trashes Jigsaw's models and plans; Jigsaw remains unmoved.Xavier, having abandoned the others, finds a colored number written on the back of Gus' neck. Realizing this is where the combination to the safe must be hidden, Xavier pulls out a knife and tells Jonus (Glenn Plummer) to turn around. Jonus assumes Xaxier means him harm and of course fights back and almost gets away but a coughing fit stops him. Xavier takes advantage of this fit and kills Jonas to retrieve his number and begins stalking the remaining captives. Laura (Beverley Mitchell) notices an X marking a painting on the wall and upon lifting it, finds a photo tacked to the back of it. The photo shows that Daniel is the son of their arresting officer, Eric Mathews. Soon after discovering the clue, Laura succumbs to the poison.Addison somehow finds another unlocked room and stumbles upon a glass box containing an antidote, a trap meant for Gus, and becomes caught in it. If she had only taken a moment to look around, she would have seen the key hanging from the ceiling on the other side of the box. Xavier comes to Addison, alerted by her screams for help, but only to obtain her number. Rather than unlock the box, he leaves her to die of blood loss. Xavier then discovers that Daniel is Matthews' son by finding the discarded photo and hunts him and Amanda down.Watching this on the monitors in Jigsaw's headquarters, Matthews loses control and violently assaults Jigsaw, nearly killing him and ultimately forcing him to take him to the house at gunpoint. As they depart, the tech team discovers the signal going to the monitors and follows it.Xavier pursues Amanda and Daniel through a trapdoor, which leads to the bathroom trap from the first film; inside are the decomposing severed foot of Dr. Gordon and the remains of Zepp Hindle and Adam Faulkner in an advanced state of decomposition. After Xavier threatens Amanda for her number, she asks him how he intends to read his own number. In response, Xavier slices off the piece of skin from the back of his neck where it is written. Xavier then attacks a prone Daniel, but he is revealed to be playing dead and slashes Xavier's throat open with Dr. Gordon's hacksaw from the previous film.Meanwhile, Matthews arrives at the house and makes his way inside, eventually finding the trapdoor. The SWAT team, meanwhile, arrives at the location of the video signal, but it is not the same house that has been shown on the monitors in Jigsaw's lair; the events in the house took place a few hours earlier and were broadcast from tapes.Matthews arrives in the bathroom and is stabbed in the thigh with a hypodermic syringe and knocked unconscious by a person wearing a pig mask.The timer at Jigsaw's lair expires and a safe opens, revealing Daniel inside wearing an oxygen mask.Matthews awakens to find himself chained to a pipe. An audio tape lying next to him reveals that Amanda has put him there. In a series of flashbacks, we learn that Amanda has become Jigsaw's protégé, and that Matthews is her first victim, as revenge for framing her and sending her to prison where she became addicted to heroin. Amanda appears in the door and says "Game over!" before closing the bathroom door while Mathews screams threats and abuse. Outside the house, a very badly beaten Jigsaw slowly forms a smile, as he is happy that his master plan has worked perfectly.

            A vicious alien "bio-probe" (an apparent cross between PREDATOR and a tyrannosaurus rex mini-me) that's been trapped for 900 years, gets unearthed deep inside a rocky cavern during an archeological dig within an anasazi tribal "burial kiva" decorated with pictographs far outside a desolate high desert town. As the carnage escalates, local sheriff Annie Flynn (Emmanuelle Vauger) and a group of stranded civilians must find a way to destroy the creature before it duplicates its feat of nine centuries earlier: complete annihilation. Unfortunately, the alcoholic sheriff is one of the least popular county residents--only one week from being terminated--and she only has one deputy. While drinking, sheriff Annie has continual flashbacks to a terrible tragedy a year earlier for which she feels guilt. To make matters worse, that unforgotten disaster involved local Native American plant biologist Nodin (Tonantzin Carmelo), who is one of the few people nearby who might be capable of replicating the long-gone anasazi potion which caused the creature to hibernate for so long. After running out of cows to kill at an area cattle ranch, the bio-probe sets its sights on the only large mammals left--people! In the ensuing chaos, the hamlet's regular power supply is cut off and the few generators around are running low on diesel. To make matters worse, every vehicle in sight either has engine trouble or runs out of gas two minutes after sputtering to a start. A "baby rattlesnake" bites someone. And what are the real motives of defunded Native American archeologist Kale (Luke Goss), who started this whole incident in the first place? To complete this synopsis with a little less than 100 per cent spoilers, EVERY person shown in this movie dies a horrible death, except for three survivors, one of which is the truck stop waitress Tanya (Deborah Offner), whose role is over after the first few minutes of the feature. Other possible survivors include the local cattle rancher Rob Horn (M.C. Gainey), Nodin's potter-businessman grandfather (Russell Means), grandpa's gasoline delivery trucker Frank (Mark Kelly), Annie's bartender friend Carla (Miranda Bailey), Annie's critics Harlan (Jeff Olson) and Curtis (Ric Barbera), sheriff's deputy Luis (Isait de la Fuente), the mysterious and impatient Detroiter Hank (Charlie Murphy), would-be Hollywood starlet Caya (Beau Garrett), Caya's friend Ally (Whitney Able), and the broken-down local cowboy Caya and Ally pick up, Charlie (Tommy Dewey). The movie ends with two of these riding off into the sunrise, with the body of a third who sacrificed everything in the back of their half-wrecked truck.

            In a pine forest on a small island in British Columbia, Canada, (which is nothing like the tropical islands from the "Far Cry" video game), a group of armed mercenaries is savagely obliterated by an unknown foe. Evil mastermind Dr. Lucas Krieger (Udo Kier) observes the brutalities with obvious pleasure from CCTV cameras.We cut to Jack Carver (Til Schweiger), the German ex-special forces soldier turned boatman and the movie's protagonist, sipping from a beer can and driving his boat, while his passengers request him to show them whales in the Canadian lake. He dismisses their whale request and leaves them disappointed.Dr. Krieger, the evil mastermind, reveals that his latest genetically modified (and mindless savage) super-soldier is a great success, capable of eliminating more than ten armed soldiers. The commander of the island's armed forces, Jason Parker (Craig Fairbrass), protests against using humans as "target practice", but Dr. Krieger convinces him not to care, for the victims have not been his men, but mercenaries led by his right-hand woman, the sadist Katia Chernov (Natalia Avelon).At a newspaper office, again somewhere in Canada, young reporter Valerie Cardinal (Emmanuelle Vaugier) (and not Valerie Constantine, as she is in the video game) decides to go on a solo mission to investigate Dr. Krieger's top-secret island facility, despite her chief's protests. She is a journalist and not an undercover CIA agent, yet another deviation from the game's story-line. we understand that her Uncle Max (Ralf Moeller) works there, though it is not specified what work exactly he's doing, and that he has been feeding her information. We'd previously seen Max agreeing with Parker about how bad it is to use men as test subjects.Val hires Jack Carver to take her to the island, because her uncle Max has set a meeting up. Turns out that Uncle Max and Jack have served together in the army and have known each other for a long time. However, Uncle Max is captured by the evil mercenaries while trying to send Val an e-mail with more information, and is put to the same surgical "genetic" enhancements that the other mad super-soldiers have been put through, because the government has decided to shut the funding as the project is becoming more dangerous. Dr. Krieger hopes that Enhanced Uncle Max will be obedient and will help him get his cash back. (Note: The super-soldiers look nothing like "Far Cry's Trigens, by the way, and are simply people painted light blue, with no primate or "fat boy" varieties.)Jack and Val reach the island and Val goes off to meet her uncle whom she thinks awaits her, but she's ambushed by the evil mercenaries who are awaiting her instead of her uncle. Jack's boat is destroyed and he nearly gets away from the explosion, managing to save Val in the process. With our heroes hunted by the mercenaries, a long car chase ensues, until finally Jack's car is airlifted by a helicopter (don't ask how) and dropped into a lake, with the helicopter exploding (once again, don't ask). Jack and Val, having slipped their foes, find their way to an abandoned house where they get out of their wet clothes and, due to the cold night, share body heat (If the film took place on tropical islands as it should have, they wouldn't have had this problem...) in more ways than one. On the next morning, Val, upon Jack's inquiry, gives him two points "from the scale of one to ten" about his performance in the heat-sharing activities. This unexpectedly low rating seems to be more important to Jack than anything else that happens afterwards.Jack is determined to take a boat and get off the island, Val insists they get Uncle Max first - she doesn't know he's been "enhanced". They manage to infiltrate the bad people's HQ and Jack leaves Val to hide while he finds a boat. Val, however, hides in such a way that she is perfectly observable from a CCTV camera and soon enough, the mercenaries come and capture her as well. Dr. Krieger, ever the gentleman, gives her a tour of his facilities and shows her her enhanced Uncle Max. Uncle Max, however, is currently sedated and does not react at the sight of his niece.Meanwhile, Jack finds a food-laden boat along with its whiny captain, Emillio "The Food Guy" (Chris Coppola), who should not have even existed. Due to a misunderstanding or two, Jack briefly meets Parker the good soldier, and then knocks him out, and kidnaps the boat along with Emilio (who doesn't stop yelling in the most annoying way imaginable). After a considerably long boat chase, Jack and Emillio are finally stopped, captured and taken together, Emillio considered his accomplice. Dr. Krieger presents Jack to Val, (which gives her a chance to give him a key for his handcuffs), and then lets Uncle Max out and orders him to kill Jack. Jack manages to show him Val, and Max decides he isn't as bad as the rest of the "enhanced" soldiers and helps Jack defeat the other bad guys that Krieger turns on them. This results in Krieger releasing all of his mindless super-soldiers, who start murdering everyone. Krieger attempts to escape, but Parker, the good soldier, opposes his "hold the line 'till death" commands and orders his men (the soldiers) to evacuate first. Krieger however turns to Chernov(a)'s mercs and commands them to kill the soldiers and to escort him to his boat, along with Val who is still a hostage. After a long firefight and a "we're on the same side" talk between Parker and Jack, Parker gets killed by the evil Chernov(a) and his soldiers are decimated. The rest of the enhanced mutants take care of the mercenaries however, and Uncle Max saves Val and kills Chernov(a), though sacrificing himself. Jack is wounded in the process, and it seems that there are no more boats left to leave on, and the last of the mutants are getting closer. In that precise moment of desperation, Emillio, who had ran off sometime before, appears and saves the good guys while leaving Krieger to his doom.In the final scene, Jack and Val are talking on the pier. Val complains that the government has prohibited her story as a breach of national security. Jack shows her his new boat, which now features Emillio as the cook. Val leaves for work, promising that she'll return the next day, leaving Jack to conclude that his one-to-ten rating of two wasn't real. His day isn't left unspoiled, however, because his new boat's first passengers are the annoying whale-loving couple from the beginning of the film, come back to verbally torture him. In the final shot, Jack walks away and leaves Emillio to do the cruise himself.
