She elected to use her middle name, Denise, when changing from elementary school to middle school.She attended dance classes from the age of two until the age of six-years-old. She quit dance classes for her first 'job' at the age of six-years-old, serving in a clerical capacity for the family-owned auto parts business. Denise opened her own business as a baton twirling instructor at the age of fifteen. She attended Memphis State University (now University of Memphis) on a band scholarship as a majorette.She was employed at FedEx Corporation for several years. During that time, she served in Accounts Receivable, Collections, manager in International Accounting, Sales Specialist in International Air Freight sales, as well as other capacities.Denise lived in Atlanta, GA, for 10 years, but returned to the Memphis area following the death of her husband. She joined her mother as a Realtor for eight years, until she became her caretaker.
