            The film opens with Tom and Sarah in the airport. A few months earlier, Tom Leezak (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah McNerney (Brittany Murphy) meet up when Tom accidentally hits Sarah with a football. A few months later, despite opposition from Sarah's rich, uptight family, they get married. However they each have a secret: Tom doesn't want Sarah to know that he accidentally killed her dog, and Sarah doesn't want Tom to know she slept with Peter Prentiss (Christian Kane). Tom and Sarah decide to honeymoon at a classy hotel at the foot of the Alps. On their way there, they attempt to join the Mile High Club, but fail when the captain turns on the Fasten Seatbelt sign and they are forced to return to their seats.They arrive at the hotel and discover that Tom's friend Kyle left them a present: the Thunderstick A-2000, a sex toy. Tom tries to plug the toy into the socket, but the plug isn't built for a European outlet and he shuts down the entire village's electricity when he tries to force it in. The newlyweds leave the hotel after Tom has a heated argument with the hotel owner. While trying to find another hotel, they crash and get buried under a heap of snow, but they are able to climb out in the morning. Eventually, they get a ride from a truck driver and end up staying at a pensión in Venice. The pensión turns out to be very bad, and they soon check out after Tom discovers a cockroach on his neck while the couple are attempting to make love.They manage to secure a nice hotel with the financial help of Sarah's father, who demands that Tom pay the money back as soon as he can. The next day they go sightseeing in Venice, but Tom quickly gets bored and they decide to split up for the day: Tom going to the bar to watch sports and Sarah continuing to see Venice. Sarah realizes that Peter Prentiss is staying at her hotel. This prompts her to initiate a conversation with Tom in which he reveals that he accidentally killed her dog and she reveals she slept with Peter. The couple storm out of the hotel and each go their separate ways: Tom going to the bar, where he meets a girl, and Sarah going sightseeing again, where she meets Peter.The girl begins to flirt with Tom and the two end up dancing. When Tom realizes she wants to have sex with him, he makes an excuse and escapes through the bathroom window. He goes back to the hotel, only to find out that Sarah is with Peter. This prompts him to go back to the bar, where he meets the girl again, and the girl clearly wants to have sex with him. Tom tries to think of a clever way to get out of this and agrees to walk with the girl to her hotel, except the girl tricks Tom into revealing his hotel, and in a desperate attempt to go to bed with him, falsely says she's at the same hotel. She tricks Tom again at the hotel and says she's lost her key and needs to call the front desk, Tom all the while trying to avoid this situation. Once in Tom and Sarah's room, the girl rips off her top and bra and tries to have sex with Tom, while Tom does everything possible to get away. As she is mounting him and trying to make out with him, Tom blurts out that he's married, and the girl finally leaves.Peter convinces Sarah to go with him for a drink, promising her a ride home. He eventually takes her home and kisses her, but she slaps him and tells him that she's on her honeymoon. Tom sees the kiss but does not see her slap him and assumes that Sarah is having a relationship with Peter. This prompts him to initiate an argument with Sarah, during which she finds a bra that the girl who Tom was with left behind. Sarah throws an ashtray at Tom, hitting him in the head and enraging him. Peter bursts into the room and tells Sarah to run away with him to Seattle. Tom arms himself with a fire poker and starts shouting at Peter, breaking things in the process. Peter runs away, asking the maître d' to call the police. Tom chases Peter out of the hotel where Tom gets arrested, and he and Sarah end up in a prison cell. Peter bails them out and this time the couple, angry at each other, decide to go home to Los Angeles.The film switches to the present, where Sarah has moved out and Tom wants to get back together with her. Upon receiving advice from his father (Raymond J. Barry), Tom attempts to break into Sarah's family's household to tell her that he loves her, but gives up after unsuccessfully trying to ram the gate with a car after unsuccessfully trying to convince her family to open it. However Sarah opens the gate herself after seeing Tom make a romantic speech to the camera, and the two rush out to proclaim their love for each other. Sarah's family also finally accepts Tom, with her father telling her to go to him after she opens the gate. The film ends with the couple recounting events from the honeymoon and Sarah's family finally approving of their marriage and people from town knowing everything about it. There is also the chance for some interviews after the marriage has been confirmed by the priest who married Tom and Sarah.

            Experience the gruesome beginnings of Mr. Smith and his hotel of horrors in this terrifying prequel to Vacancy, starring Agnes Bruckner (Murder by Numbers). Suspecting only a night of hard beds and tacky décor, Caleb, his sexy new fiancée Jessica and his sarcastic best friend Tanner, check into the Meadow View Inn. They have no idea that it is not just another lonely motel, but a horrific trap where guests are brutally tortured and murdered while the sadistic maniac Mr. Smith and his greedy accomplices film the grisly slayings for profit. Caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse, the three young friends now must fight to survive.Set years before the first film, the movie takes place in and around the Meadow View Inn, a small roadside motel in rural North Carolina. The manager, Gordon, oversees an operation of using cameras within the motel to videotape his guests' sexual activities and then sell them as low budget pornography for extra profits.Unfortunately for him, a trucker who delivers the videos to people informs him that this sort of market is not selling very well and profits are down. Later, a serial killer (Scott G. Anderson) who checks into the motel, known as simply 'Mr. Smith' brutally murders a woman he brought with him in one of the motel rooms. The horrified staff see the whole crime on videotape and then subdue the man. They however do not know what to do with him as they will endanger their operation if they call the police. Smith manages to convince Gordon and his staff to hire him to torture and murder the motel guests on videotape and then sell them as snuff films.The trucker confirms that this is indeed a functional market and Gordon agrees under the conditions that he is the leader of the operation. Smith mockingly agrees. A couple of days later, a young couple (played by Trevor Wright and Agnes Brucker) and their friend (Arjay Smith) check into the Meadow View Inn for a night's rest, unaware of the inn's sick-minded employees and their nefarious intentions. As the killers begin to terrorize the hotel guests, it quickly becomes apparent that Smith is a loose-cannon, with no intention of following Gordon's lead. He fashions a crude mask out of wire and proceeds to murder two of the hotel's three guests as well as an elderly couple at a house nearby.Jessica manages to outsmart and kill two of the killers, including Gordon, and badly injures Smith by setting him on fire. While Jessica informs the police of the murders, it is revealed that Smith has survived. He and the trucker remove all the cameras and bodies from the motel. When the police arrive, they find nothing to confirm Jessica's brutal story and classify all who were murdered as missing.In the epiloge, at another hotel (it is disputed as to whether or not this is the Pinewood Hotel seen in the first film), a badly scarred Smith informs the trucker that he will have the motel up and running in a few weeks just as soon as the cameras are set. Smith gives the trucker the very first snuff film that features one of the guests he murdered at the Meadow View Inn. He tells the trucker that he will burn more copies as soon as he can.

            Los Angeles - Having been driven mad, actress Monica Leskova commits suicide by setting herself on fire.Elmira, New York - Rape survivor Katie Connor learns from her friend Debbie that Hollywood actor Jay Cutter is staying at the hotel where they work while he shoots a movie locally. Katie and Jay gradually develop a romantic relationship.Katie avoids discussing her rape and subsequent abortion with her therapist, who is distracted by a virus that disables his tablet containing session records.Katie agrees to go to Los Angeles with Jay. Katie moves into Jay's apartment in The Providence, a dark old building with a sordid history of suicides and murders. Katie meets Jay's upstairs neighbor Father Bill O'Shea.After gifting her with a new wardrobe, Jay takes Katie to a party where she meets three of his insensitive friends. Katie later overhears the friends discussing the suicide death of Jay's previous girlfriend Monica. Katie also discovers she is out of her prescription medication.Upon returning to the apartment building, Katie has an odd experience while alone in which the stairwell goes dark and she seemingly sees a ghostly little girl named Grace.Katie and Jay bond over a discussion of their respective suicide attempts. Katie meets another of Jay's strange neighbors, an overweight woman who works as an online camgirl.Katie experiences another vision of Grace. Katie also has a disturbing encounter in which she thinks she sees a window washer recording her from outside.Jay leaves Katie alone in the apartment while he goes on a three-day film shoot. Katie meets a confused resident named Angela Marcus. Katie asks Father Bill about Grace, who confirms no children live in the building. Katie begins using pills found in Jay's medicine cabinet. Katie follows strong vibrations to a massive server room. Katie sees Grace again.Words written on the ceiling instruct Katie to enter the kitchen and count to seven. When she does, the phone rings. The man on the other end asks to speak to Grace. The man calls a second time claiming to be Katie's rapist Charlie. By the time Katie retrieves Father Bill for help, the ceiling message is missing.Unable to use her cellphone since losing her charger, Katie calls Debbie from a payphone. Katie gives Debbie the address and phone number for Jay's apartment. Afterward, a man on the street claims to recognize Katie, cryptically referring to a website involving gambling.Three men attack Katie in the apartment, but only take her purse. A male police officer and a female officer arrive to question Katie. The male cop makes disparaging accusations while the female cop uses her hand to sexually assault Katie.In frustrated anger, Katie smashes the bathroom mirror. She discovers a camera hidden in the wall.A straight razor as well as a chair and electrical cord conspicuously appear within Katie's line of sight. Katie tries calling Debbie, but a different person claims to be living at Debbie's address. Katie finds more cameras throughout the apartment as well as the building. Katie calls Jay, who tells Katie that her claims make her sound crazy. Katie accuses Jay of being involved in a conspiracy seemingly designed to drive her to suicide.Katie tries leaving the building, but is stopped by one of the men who attacked her along with the two police officers. Katie encounters Grace, who asks why Katie killed her.Katie goes to see Father Bill. Bill tells Katie that everything is in her mind, and stems from the guilt of having aborted Grace. Katie is shocked that Bill knows her personal details.Katie encounters another strange resident, Karen Delgado, as Karen looks for Jay's cat Flirt. Katie finds a copy of her hometown newspaper reporting her suicide. While smashing up Jay's apartment, Katie uncovers a secret passage.Revealing himself as part of the conspiracy, Bill phones a superior about Jay's apartment going dark.Katie follows the secret passage to a staging area where she discovers that Jay's friends and the police officers are actors. Props and scripts confirm that Katie is an unwilling participant on LifeBet, a voyeuristic gambling website that sponsors betting on how suicidal people will kill themselves. Katie uses an ax to murder the actress who played the female police officer.Debbie shows up at The Providence looking for Katie. Katie witnesses Bill stabbing Debbie to death.Katie finds a suicide victim who had also been manipulated by Jay in another apartment. Jay enters. Katie takes Jay at knifepoint and escorts him to the roof where she has a confrontation with Bill.Bill intentionally shoots Jay. Bill then exploits Katie's growing despondency by convincing her to jump off the roof. Katie does, but she survives the fall. As authorities arrive at the scene to take Katie away in an ambulance, Bill orders over the phone for all of the servers to be wiped clean.Bill proposes moving the LifeBet operation to Bulgaria. Bill and a casting agent interview an actress for a role that involves breaking a man as their next victim.
