            Synopsis as provided by Srijana Mitra Das in the Times of India (4 April 2015):It's 1942 and Calcutta is ruled by the British Raj. Its underworld is ruled by Chinese gangsters smuggling opium from Shanghai. A vicious fight breaks out within one such gang at the Calcutta docks where gangster Yun Gong brutally blinds one rival and is then thought to be killed.Meanwhile, bright student Byomkesh Bakshy (Sushant) is approached by Ajit Banerjee for help in finding his missing father Bhuvan babu. Initially, Byomkesh refuses and even suggests Bhuvan may be mixed up in dodgy business, at which Ajit angrily slaps him. The same day, Byomkesh's girlfriend Leela tells him she's marrying a well-placed chemistry student instead of him.Byomkesh seeks out Ajit and agrees to take his case. He visits Bhuvan's lodging home and meets Dr. Guha and Kanai Dao who legally sells opium. He also finds Bhuvan's beloved paan box is still in his room, hidden by his roommate who's oddly addicted to the paan masala. Byomkesh is convinced Bhuvan has been killed as his box and money are still in his room.Byomkesh visits the Sikdar chemical factory, now shut down, where Bhuvan used to work. There he sees film star Angoori taking a swim. She's amused by him and offers him a ride home. In the car, when he asks if she knows of Bhuvan, she pulls her handbag nervously to herself. In her studio, as she shoots, Byomkesh opens the bag and finds letters from cut-out newspapers, blackmailing the factory owner Sikdar babu, a friend of Angoori's.He's convinced Sikdar has killed Bhuvan when the latter tried to blackmail him. Byomkesh goes back to the factory with Dr. Guha and they pretend to the watchmen that they've come to fix a mouse problem. Poking around in the factory, they find Bhuvan's slashed, decomposed body stuffed into a machine.Sikdar is brought in by police commissioner Wilkie for questioning - but just then, Byomkesh discovers he's wrong and Sikdar is being framed as the newspapers only reach the lodging house at 8:30 AM every day while the blackmail letters were stamped at 7:30 AM at the post office, showing a false detail. Dr. Guha vanishes but sends Byomkesh a note, admitting he was blackmailing Sikdar, not Bhuvan babu.Sikdar is freed and Byomkesh follows him home but is detained by Angoori who tries to kiss him. He gently rebuffs her but when he goes to meet Sikdar, the latter is suddenly poisoned and dies. Suspicion falls on his rebellious nephew Sukumar who has opened a rival political party and is militant about India's freedom from the British. Sukumar's sister Satyawati pleads with Byomkesh to help her brother, who's driven off earlier in a cab used by Byomkesh.Byomkesh finds the Sardarji cabbie Sukumar drove off with, reaching a Japanese dentist Dr. Watnabe's clinic where the secretary says Watanabe is at the temple. Byomkesh and Ajit go to the temple, pretending they have a link with Sukumar's political party, but Watanabe is suspicious. Another member of Sukumar's party recognizes them and follows them at Watanabe's orders. Byomkesh and Ajit change their costumes and then follow the student back to the dentist's - where they find the secretary and student brutally murdered with a shadowy character escaping in a car.Byomkesh takes a paper out from the student's pocket - it's a map of Calcutta's river route. They return to the lodgers' house where Byomkesh feels low. He tries some of Bhuvan babu's paan masala and finds it is laced with heroin. Making a wall-painting of the entire crime, Byomkesh has the heroin presence confirmed by Leela's chemist husband who says this heroin is very hard to trace and made from opium - which Dao, who admits he's an undercover cop, tells Byomkesh has practically vanished from the city.Byomkesh finds there are two plots together here. The first is the Chinese gang warfare over opium, turned into untraceable heroin by Bhuvan babu's secret formula. The second is of Sukumar's political party being told by the Japanese army that they will land in Calcutta via its river routes and liberate the city from the British.The link between the two deadly plots is the mysterious Yun Gong.Meanwhile, Dr. Guha returns to the lodging house and tells Byomkesh he's a nationalist fighting for India's freedom. He offers Byomkesh a role to play in the struggle and says other peoples' murders are the price for this. Byomkesh asks Dao to take him to the Chinese gang which tells him about the deadly Gong. Byomkesh divulges all the facts to commissioner Wilkie and asks him to sound all the air raid sirens of Calcutta at 4 AM on Basant Panchami. He is convinced the Japanese will attack Calcutta through its river routes then and Gong will help them, so that they let him control the hugely rich opium trade.Byomkesh sends Dr. Guha a letter inviting him to the lodging house. Dr. Guha, Sukumar, Watanabe and Satyawati come there, as does Angoori who's told Byomkesh she's loved Gong from their days together in Rangoon and has been trying to mislead Byomkesh on Gong's orders. She hasn't seen him recently though and doesn't recognize him - not even when Byomkesh reveals Dr. Guha is actually the dreaded Gong.Angoori tries to stop Gong from helping the Japanese conquer Calcutta but he brutally murders her. The Chinese gang hidden by Byomkesh in the lodging house then attacks and takes away Gong who gets distracted by the air sirens going off. Byomkesh tells the Japanese doctor their game is up and the British army will crush their forces if they try to attack. He gives up.Byomkesh then tells Satywati he wants to marry her as the price for proving Sukumar's innocence. Meanwhile, Gong manages to kill the entire Chinese gang and escapes - promising Byomkesh revenge.

            The film begins with Sanjay Chaturvedi (Vicky Kaushal) looking far at a building where a happy couple lives in their own flat.Sanjay works in a bank as an IT software engineer and has the dream of buying his own flat. He comes across a housing scheme for married couples. Sanjay is in a fling with the Office boss Rashi Khurana (Alankrita Sahai) and asks her to be his partner in the joint scheme. Unknowingly Rashi can't leave her husband Kashin (Arunoday Singh) and rebuffs him. Rashi just uses Sanjay as a love slave, while he wants "More" from the relationship.Karina D'Souza (Angira Dhar) works in a bank living with her mother Blossom D'Souza (Ratna Pathak Shah).She too has the dream of buying her own home. While she proposes Samuel (Kunaal Roy Kapur), her going-to-be-husband about the joint scheme, he bluntly refuses as he has his own home and she can live there. Sanjay come across Karina in a reception party. They meet and dance. Next day Sanjay finds that his appeal for loan has been rejected by Karina as his salary is less. They have a argument but later apologizes and they both share their housing scheme dreams.Samuel asks 3 months duration for him to marry Karina. An angry Karina shouts at her Mother as Samuel cannot decide her work, home and life. But Blossom states that her only dream is to see Karina get married. Rashi calls Sanjay home. With desires floating high Sanjay arrives at the flat only to find Kashin over there. Kashin states the he is happy Rashi found a "Rakhi brother" in Sanjay. Sanjay gets shocked at Rashi's demeanour.Next Morning Sanjay and Karina meets. While Sanjay asks Karina whether they can apply for the Housing scheme loan together as a couple. Karina finds it illogical and disagrees. Samuel arranges a room for Karina as her small place she always wanted, while Karina desires more. Next day Karina accepts Sanjay's proposal and they together apply for a loan and arranges documents with the help of Mr. Rahmat (Gajraj Rao) , whom Sanjay has met earlier. While for making the fake documents they need 4 Lacs. Sanjay asks Rashi to give him a cheque of 4 Lacs from his Provident Fund.Karina and Sanjay come close to each other and kisses each other on a local train. The same night Karina arrives a Sanjay's place and tells him that she has broke up with Samuel because she finds she might be cheating Sanjay with Samuel. They proposes their love and kisses each other. They somehow manages to get into the property they are buying which is under construction and makes love at the place.Rashi invites Sanjay over a birthday party. Rashi persuades Sanjay to make out while he is already committed to Karina. For the sake of Cheque he succumbs to the demands of Rashi. Next morning he finds that he has slept with Rashi but doesn't remember anything and finds the cheque tucked inside his shorts.Sanjay's father (Raghubir Yadav) gets retired who was a Railway announcer. They give the cheque to Rahmat and settles everything. Karina officially calls off with Samuel. Sanjay and Karina tells their respective families about the relationship. They accept following some hilarious scenes. Sanjay tells Karina about his night with Rashi. Karina gets angry with him. Rashi calls Sanjay to tell him that she is pregnant. Rashi and Sanjay shares a argument regarding the baby while Karina overhears it. Meanwhile Kashin arrives and beats Sanjay when Rashi tells everyone that she was lying as nothing has happened between she and Sanjay, it was just a plan to teach Kashin a lesson over his affair. Sanjay grabs Rashi by the neck while Kashin by mistakenly punches Rashi. Karina walks out of the office while Sanjay runs behind her.Karina and Sanjay shares a heated argument in the road regarding the property and their love. Karina decides to sell the house while Sanjay asks not to do so. Karina challenges him that she is selling the home and if he has guts buy it from her.Both of their family arranges the wedding on the lawn of the new flat. Rahmat calls Karina to the new home where she finds Sanjay's video message that he has transferred the flat to her name. While Blossom searches for Karina down there amidst the wedding chaos. Sanjay arrives telling all the marriage can't happen. Karina asks for a talk with Sanjay. Sanjay apologies and tells Karina he understood the difference between "Ghar" and "Makaan." Karina asks there is no 50-50 now in this relationship and he have to listen to her 100%. An excited Sanjay accepts and they get married happily.While the next day Karina and Sanjay gets ready to go to office together sharing the housing chores together, Sanjay finds a guy (Ranbir Kapoor) admiringly looking at their flat the same way Sanjay looked at some other flat at the beginning of the movie.

            In 2006, George W. Bush, President of the United States, visited India. In addition to the many diplomatic and political things on the agenda was a rather unique event - a meeting with one of the young faces responsible for shaping "The New India". The six contestants are Maya Roy India's best young Writer, Ajay Karlekar India's best young Social Activist, Archana Kapoor India's best young Indian Entrepreneur, Rohit Seth Call Center Accent Trainer, Kapil Dev Dholakia India's best young Stock Investor, Ramesh S Software Engineer. Maya Roy (Konkona Sen Sharma) is one of the 6 contestants in the talent contest, who will stop at nothing to be the person to represent New India in front of the visiting US President, George Bush. They have to undergo bizarre test and activities to top the list. In the end only two are left Kapil and Maya. Kapil is caught cheating in the final round and Maya is selected. But with bizarre turn of events she is not the one who shakes the hand.

            Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) are two dope heads who tag along to Goa with their buddy, Bunny (Anand Tiwari), on his business trip. Luv comes across a free-spirited girl, Luna (Puja Gupta) who casually invites them to an exclusive underground rave party on a remote island! The party is headed by the macho Indo-Russian Mafioso, Boris (Saif Ali Khan). But something is not right on this island. All of a sudden, they are accosted by zombies! Where did these zombies come from? And who is Boris really? And why has this cold-hearted drug-dealing don come to save their lives? Together they need to get out of the infected island!

After being patched up, he --with a full beard and covered in dust-- stumbles across the barren terrain..."Three months earlier." Flash-back. Jay leads a dance class in Las Vegas. He works a variety of jobs and cons, including a scam in which he marries illegal immigrants. [Back in his apartment, Jay is startled to find one of his dance students: Gina (Kangana Ranaut). "Happy Valentines," she says before revealing she had a copy of his keys made for herself. Jay accuses her of being crazy and throws her out. Outside, Jay tries to apologize for any misunderstanding and Gina says she won't bother him again. As a limo pulls up, Jay realizes he has missed a big opportunity. To reignite the flame, Jay invites Gina to be his partner in a dance competition. They win the contest, set to the song "Fire." ] After winning the dance competition, Jay meets his girlfriend Gina's (Ranaut) parents. Her father, Bob Grover (Kabir Bedi), owns a casino. He invites Jay for a weekend at their beach house.The Grovers live a fabulously wealthy lifestyle.Jay goes swimming and sees a beautiful Hispanic woman. At the Grover's home, he sees the same woman again. He is captivated. The mystery woman is Natasha (Bárbara Mori), the fiancee of Gina's brother Tony (Nicholas Brown). In a restaurant, Tony shares the story of how he met Natasha. The first thing he saw was her "hot sexy legs." Natasha is clearly uncomfortable.  [But despite her limited English, she seems to share a private joke with Jay, while Tony pays the bill.] Jay remembers the real first time he met Natasha. Her true name was Linda and she was the last of his eleven fake marriages. And the only one that left an impression. [Montage set to "Dil Kyun Yeh Mera" of Tony and Natasha's engagement party and the two couples laughing and smiling aboard a yacht. Jay appears more interested in Natasha than Gina.] Tony and Natasha are engaged. Later, Jay witnesses Tony shouting at Natasha, and pushing her around. Jay comforts Natasha by showing her how to make shadow puppets....Flash-forward again to the full-bearded Jay stumbling outside a train station. He searches the ground and finds a cell phone. He asks the station master to help him recharge the phone, before collapsing. The station master finds Jay's wallet; inside: a picture of Natasha and business card for the Plaza....Flash-back. Tony and Jay arrive at the Plaza casino.  [Bob greets them. He has blood on his hands. Inside, two men are being tortured for cheating. One is a man called David, and Jay spares his life.]  Bob shows Jay around his casino and gives him two gifts: a gun and a new car.The night before the wedding, Jay asks Natasha to meet him and "finalize their divorce." Jamaal (Yuri Suri) the Grover's watchful chauffeur cautions Jay not to mess with the family.Natasha meets with Jay for a night of celebration. He asks her if she really loves Tony. She is silent for a moment. [She admits, "I love Tony's money."]  Jay confirms that he has a similar lack of feeling towards Gina.  [They compare all the expensive gifts they have received, but underneath their shared love of money is a shared sadness and longing.]  Natasha says that she wishes their marriage was a real one. "Me too," Jay says.  [Montage set to "Kites in the Sky" They drink champagne and see the sights of Vegas.]  The rain makes Jay sad, but Natasha encourages him to play.Jay returns Natasha to her apartment. They kiss. Tony bursts into the apartment. He is drunk and doesn't catch Jay. Tony begins to abuse Natasha, questioning where she has been all night. Jay puts his gun to Tony's head and holds out his other hand to Natasha. While she hesitates, Tony knocks the gun from Jay's hand and pulls out his own gun. He aims it at Jay...Flash-forward again to the train station. Jay awakes as the station master informs him that his phone is charged and that he called his "friends" for him. Tony and a group of men pull up in vehicles. Jay escapes on a passing freight. He finds a text from Natasha: "I'm going... sorry. Forget me." ["Intermission"] Having escaped on the train, Jay returns to the Vegas strip.  [David supplies him with a gun and Jamaal's phone number.]  On the phone, Jamaal confirms that he knows Natasha's whereabouts and makes plans to meet Jay later that night. Jay breaks into Natasha's abandoned apartment and holds a shattered frame with her photo...Flash-back to the earlier confrontation at the apartment. .... Tony points the gun at Jay. Natasha knocks Tony unconscious. Jay and Natasha flee in the convertible. Using the car's GPS, the police -followed closely by Tony- track the car. But it has been abandoned; the pair has traded watches and jewelry for a different ride. High-speed car chase ensues, but the couple makes a surprising escape. On the news, Bob falsely reports that Jay has stolen 2 million from his casino.Natasha blames their desperate situation on Jay "seducing" her, but she remembers she has a $200 bank account under her "Mrs. Linda Rai" alias. However, the police are one step ahead of her. [A despondent, and possibly unhinged, Gina methodically taps a spoon against a glass, while her father talks to Tony on the phone. Tony wants Jay and Natasha killed.] At the bank, "Linda Rai" raises a red flag, and the pair pull guns on the tellers to get their $200. The pair hi-jack a car. They spend the night at a hotel. They share their dreams for a new life together.  [Jay delights Linda with a Charlie Chaplin impersonation.]  The police burst in and arrest them. Downstairs, others are waiting for the pair. They want the supposed millions that they are in possession of. In the ensuing gun battle between cops and bandits, Jay and Natasha once again escape while utilizing multiple modes of transportation. More high speed chases. They spend the night in the desert. [In the morning, Jay's friend and colleague in the marriage scams, Robin (Anand Tiwari), catches up with the pair. Jay wants Robin to take Natasha away, as it is too dangerous for them to be together. At first he convinces Natasha that they are only separating for an hour, but she soon catches his lie. She wants to spend whatever time they have left together. "Live together. Die together."] Tony receives an anonymous phone call about Jay and Natasha's whereabouts.  [He argues about the price.]  But it's a trap. He is met by Jay and his friend, Robin (Tiwari). Jay says he's sorry for hurting the Grover family, but he takes Tony's 2 million --the amount he was already accused of stealing. Tony predicts that soon Natasha will leave Jay and return to him. ["Zindagi Do Pal Ki" plays over the following (mostly same in both versions) scenes]  Jay, Natasha, and Robin take the money and happily drive away. Robin helps smuggle the pair into Mexico. They make arrangements for fake passports. They meet Linda's family, and bring them gifts. They buy a house of their own. (In a remix-only scene:  Natasha tells Jay a story about her family.) [A different version of a kissing scene is used in the original cut.]  The couple is wed in a Spanish ceremony.Returning to their house, they meet Robin who has their new passports. Robin is gunned down, as Tony and his men arrive. A silent Jamaal lets the couple pass by him. While getting in their truck, Jay is shot in the back. Natasha drives. Jay passes in and out of consciousness; Natasha is panicking. She pulls into the train station. Jay looses his phone, as Natasha dumps him in a freight car. He calls out to her, but she drives away in the truck....Flash forward again. Jamaal pulls up in a car. But before he and Jay can speak, Tony and his men arrive.  [David had betrayed him.]  Jay begs Tony to let him see Natasha one last time, so he can know why she left him. Jamaal hits Tony with the car. Under bullet fire, he and Jay escape for a few minutes. In a no-audio scene, Jamaal tells Jay where Natasha is, before succumbing to a bullet wound. Jay steps out of the car, and opens fire on Tony's men. He then proceeds to beat Tony senseless until a shot rings out. Jay is hit and a shaking and crying Gina holds the smoking gun. Jay gives up and walks away.He drives through the night, while thinking about what Jamaal told him. Flash-back to Natasha's story. Pursued by Tony and his men, she hides Jay in the freight car and then acts as a decoy. She leads Tony away and watches the train pull out, hopefully bringing her love to safety. Tony chases her to a cliff's edge. Not wanting to return with her sadistic pursuer, Natasha sends her last text to Jay, "I'm going... sorry. Forget me," and drives over the cliff.Now standing on the same cliff, a heartbroken, wounded, and exhausted Jay steps over the edge and into the sea. Underwater, the spirits of Jay and Natasha meet --finally together again in the afterlife.
