Amber Rubarth has toured the world from South Africa to Europe to Japan, and all across America with her "unique gift of knocking down walls with songs so strong they sound like classics from another era." -Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Her music led to her being cast co-starring alongside Joe Purdy in the feature film 'American Folk' which won numerous festival awards and was released in theaters, on demand, and on tour (January 2018, Good Deed Entertainment). The film received many raving reviews, the Hollywood Reporter lauding it as "Superb... A heartfelt homage to American folk music," and Rolling Stone simply putting it "Enchanting."Grand Prize Winner of NPR's Mountain Stage New Song contest, until now Amber has poured most of her creativity into her music and visual art (did we mention she used to be a chainsaw sculptor in Nevada for four years?). She has performed thousands of stages around the world including Carnegie Hall (including a duet she wrote and performed with Jason Mraz), and NYC's Lincoln Center. The Ithaca Chamber Orchestra invited her in for a collaboration performing full arrangements of her original songs woven into other classical works. Rubarth has been hand-picked to open tours for such legendary artists as Emmylou Harris, Kenny Loggins, Richie Havens, Dr. Ralph Stanley and Loudon Wainwright III. She was the second guest to perform for Memphis' Sun Studio Sessions (now on PBS) and upon hearing one of her first songs NPR's Bob Boilen said "I was attracted by the honesty and the humor in a song by Amber Rubarth, appropriately titled, 'You Will Love This Song.' She continues to reinvent herself, most recently with her latest release 'Wildflowers in the Graveyard,' a collection exploring the fluidity of relationships between life, death and rebirth. "There are wildflowers springing up at the graveyard / An oak tree that's been standing here so long / And dandelions pretty in the sunshine / 'Til the wind blows and they're gone." All songs are self-penned and recorded in analogue to 2" tape with co-producer Matt Andrews (Gillian Welch, Dave Rawlings, Dawes) in her hometown of Nashville.Rubarth is very familiar now with both sides of the camera, writing original music and score for numerous films including Sundance festival winner Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work and award-winning documentary Desert Runners. After many years of touring solo, she now enjoys multiple collaborations such as her musical collaboration 'The Paper Raincoat,' featured in Disney's The Last Song, the CW's One Tree Hill, as well as her recent UK-based folk trio Applewood Road featured on camera with her original arrangement in the BBC's Sisters in Country documentary with Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstandt and Emmylou Harris.
