Even during this period, Allan's love for acting found him participating in local musical productions, as an actor, musical director, and composer and lyricist.Allan began his professional career as an actor in 2006, and due to his eagerness and fresh approach to his work, he has found steady employment and has never looked back.Allan has appeared in commercials for TV and Internet, industrial films, as well as voicing radio spots, and appearing in print. His roles have ranged from a doctor to a businessman to a mechanic to a man who is confronting cancer. Some of his clients include, Cablevision,ESPN, Merck, Citibank, Web MD/Medscape, and AT&T. Allan is also one of the principals in the music video for the hit song by the group Underworld, called "Always Loved A Film".In October 2011, Allan appeared as "Reverend Sykes", in The Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey's production of "To Kill a Mockingbird". The play ran through November 2011 to packed houses, becoming the most successful play in the history of the company. The New York Times reviewer, Anita Gates, singled out a poignant moment in Allan's performance as "one that will bring tears to some audience members' eyes".
