Alina was born in Russia on Sakhalin Island in the North Pacific Ocean, just north of Japan. The little town, Okha, where she and her sister, Katherine Lapteva, were born, was known back then as a center of Sakhalin's petroleum industry. Her parents, Leonid Laptev and Marina Lapteva, were sent there by USSR to work on oil rakes. As a child Alina has the most peculiar memories of that town of oil wells allover the town, icebergs floating on water in the summer and whales thrown to the shore.She later moved to another industrial city in Russia, a city called Ufa. There she was professionally engaged in Short Track Speed Skating and later eared herself a title of a Champion of Russia. Even though Alina's career as an athlete was going well, it was evident from her early years that Alina had a bigger passion in performing. While in Ufa she was constantly participating in different school singing events and plays, however being busy with sports did not allow her to give her full attention to pursue acting.Everything has drastically changed when Alina, 16 then, finished high school and decided to leave Russia, her family and speed skating to change her life entirely and try her luck in Canada.When she came to Canada she decided to go to a Theatre program at York University in Toronto. To her disappointment it was not going as well as she was hoping. Her lack of English was preventing her from expressing herself during her acting classes and she had to change her focus of studies on Theatre Production and working behind the scenes. To compensate on her inability to perform Alina started a modeling career and went back into sports. While at university she freed her silent expression into visual art and design, which made her one of the best students graduated from her Theatre Program at York University.After graduating from university Alina had to face reality once again: completely broke and still a foreigner with no status. She struggled her way up and established herself first as a personal trainer and then as a business owner of a successful property management company.She is now married to Farrukh Normuradov, and they have a daughter, Sofia Normuradova.Alina now is focused back on her passion to perform and is actively engaged in acting classes and local productions. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Ekaterina Quist
